Elliptical coil

Listener

Well-known member
Got it around the middle of July and been hunting in 14.414 kHz. The last two outings this week I decided to check out the other frequencies . It jumps over 28 and goes to 75 and will not lock in on either and jumps back to 14.414 when I hit enter. Will be making some calls on Monday about warranty exchange.

Hi, Listener.
Never heard of this problem before?
You've not said whether you have the remote control or not?

You mentioned hitting enter?............. from the frequency menu, just press the + button,, this should increase the frequency, press once to increase from 14K,, twice to go to go higher! no need to press enter! If you have the remote,, then you have the expert menu that offers 7 different sub- frequencys,, however if your using the Deus lite, you have the mid-frequency setting for each different frequency level?

Yes I have the remote and yes you are supposed to press the + button to change frequency when in the frequency setup. Mine does not move to the next frequency as I said it skips 28 and goes to 74 and if I press - it may or may not stop at 28, most times it goes to 14. If I press it enough and get it to stay at 28 or 74 when I press the BACK/ENTER button to return to the home screen, it changes on it's own to 14 khz. I am aware of the expert mode to select sub frequencys. It simply is not functioning as it should and I'm certainly not happy with it. Also there is a huge delay using the MI6 pinpointer with this coil compared with my others. The other coils work wonderful.

It may be worth uninstalling your XP software from your PC then re-boot and download it again from the XP web site.
Then re install into your Deus again.
Also check the + or - button is not sticking.

Thanks Gary, Good suggestion and I will do just that after things get all charged up. I have two charging clips at work now. I did take both the 9" and 11" coils out again this morning and did not find any problems with buttons sticking. They walked through the different frequencys quickly and without button sticking and without a hitch. Tried the HF Elliptical again and nothing has changed. Opens at 14414 and If I press + once it goes to 74 and press - it just stays there and after a long press it goes back to 14414. I was surprised when the coil came the only paper with it was the instructions for the battery installation. No warranty, nothing but the coil and stem, but the seller mailed me the paid invoice a few days after I received it.

I reloaded the Version 4.0 and nothing changed. Here is what I found out by trial and error. The download only found coil #1 - 9" coil & #2 - 11"coil - then went on to the headphone sequence. Initially I had the #3 coil the HF Elliptical selected in the remote, so thought I would go back and reselect coil #1 and download 4.0 again to see if it would step through the coil sequence and this time find coil #3.
This time it couldn't find coil #1 the 9" and the sequence timed out and the download went to coil #2, and then went on to the headphone sequence again, then said download successful. I turned on the remote and it selected the #1 coil. Great, so I selected the #3 coil and it did. I went to basic one and moved down to frequency and pressed the plus button once and waited, it selected frequency 28. I pressed the plus button again and waited and it selected frequency 74.
There is a delay when you press the plus button of about 4 seconds before it selects the next higher frequency. Before I wasn't waiting for the change ( who would have thought you had to take a nap between selections). Seems funny no one chimed in about this difference between these HF coils and the others.
So maybe things were ok to begin with. The change between frequencies on the other two coils is instant. As others have mentioned about lack of communication coming out of XP, I can only agree and say would it hurt to provide just a hint that the response is a little slower with these coils. Also for the lag in on time when using the pinpointer. I think I will use the Garrett as it is instant on and off and if I am feeling melancholy I will use the MI6.
