End of year finds

I'm still hunting the local park baseball diamonds and a small grove of pine trees to the east of them. Three of the ladies were no deeper than 4" and produced a 13-12 meter reading. Two buffalos the same depth, same readings, but the 1883 lady was approximately 8" as was the 1923 buffalo. Both produced 20-11 readings. I've seen these numbers and higher on the ferrous side and the coins have always been this deep, possibly a little more.

Mercs were 4-5" down. Indianhead produced its normal tone and reading at 5" (15-31). Seems the pattern on my indianhead finds always has been the deeper it is the lower the ferrous side. I got to tell you, if something sounds faint, I dig it anyway. So far, so good. I forgot to mention, this indianhead penny found, was number 140, and it took 32 months to find them here where I hunt. "Pickins" are getting slimmer all the time, but the Stealth X-5 coil is still kickin them up. Happy Hunting!!

ID No,s pretty much the same as with your standard 11" coil? again great hunting! HH

Thanks for the compliment on my post Jim D. I gotta say that since i bought this ETRAC in 2010 I went to a Excelerator EQ2 coil very shortly afterwards. 95% of anything Ive found and posted here was with it . Late this year it finally failed after many ,many hours of good service . Went to a Stealth x-5 soon after that. The standard 11" coil is by all means a all purpose excellent coil. I guess my answer to your question is that i really never used the 11" enough to make a comparison between it and the 2 coils listed above. The park here where I hunt is just loaded with trash and I feel that working slow with a smaller coil in a area like this gives me a distinct maneuverability advantage while hunting in such a trashy environment. I hunt with very little or no discrimation and hear everthing in the ground!! Most folks cant stand the constant drone of different pitches of sound. I wouldnt recommend this technique to anyone ,but it works for me and i will continue to use it. Someday Id like to hunt old rural houses or farmfields with someone who knows landowners and can get permission to hunt. Doing hunting like this would really make me inclined to put the 11" to the test. -Kabarcoinin

Great finds !! I know what you're saying about deeper coins having a high ferrous number. Last week I found a
large cent at 9 inches that gave a good signal but the numbers were 35-48, 35-50. I just had to see what that was
and was surprised to recover the old copper. Happy hunting.

AJ ,I think I might give those numbers a few digs. This park I hunt in and a couple of others here in town are 140 years old. Never know what I find till I try them! See what happens. Thanks for the tip! - Kabarcoinin
