ENGLAND HERE I COME!!

Goldstrike

Well-known member
Bought a plane ticket to England:ukflag: for March...and I'm so looking forward to metal detecting there again:clapping: I was there last year and discovered an old park that I'm very confident had not been metal detected because of all the stuff I dug up including a gold ring, WW2 hat badge and lots of old coins. It has also been used for a fairground site for many decades so who knows what's in the ground!!
I was rained out most of the days I was there the last time last year (not surprising for England) and the ground was saturated so I hope for drier weather more conducive for M.D-ing.
The only downside to metal detecting in England is the antiquated laws of the land declaring that your finds may be 'treasure trove' and you have to go to an 'inquest' to sort all that stuff out! bah humbug!!!:stars:
The best news is my brother (who lives in England) has a friend who is a sheep herder taking care of property that was the site of a Roman encampment. As far as the caretaker of the property knows, there hasn't been any metal detectorists set foot, or could not get permission? on that property:clapping: We have permission to metal detect the acreage....sweet!!!:yo: wish me luck and I'll post my finds when I dig them up and I'll be doing the gold dance again:wiggle:!!

Man that would be so kool to dirtfish there! Good luck an i want to see lots of pics. HH

Thanks guy's for your well wishes! I wish I could take you all with me!!

Thanks very much Kschae4 for that info! much appreciated...It's always a challenge going to England and metal detecting because your going to find English money and not nickels, dimes and quarters!! (and Euros) so the I.D. and numbers are all different, but luckily because I've been there before, I have some English money so I know what the numbers are before I fly.
Of course, gold and silver are the same numbers and I.D. everywhere you go and I'm not really a relic hunter although I'll keep the interesting stuff but it's the precious metals I'm primarily looking for.

Goldstrike- You're very welcome... I'm sure that I won't be the only md'er reading this thread that will be living vicariously through you on your highly anticipated English hunt ! Of course, don't forget the camera and/or camcorder.

IF YOU CAN'T TAKE US ALL, HOW BOUT JUST ONE OF US!!! There are so many to choose from. :poke::rofl: Best of Luck have a good time and a great visit with your brother. Ron :detecting:

Best of luck Goldstrike, look forward to seeing some pix of your finds!!!

Are you back yet? Did you go yet? If not and you have room for one more, I could provide you with a poncho in exchange for a trip to England. That really sounds like a great time. Give it some thought and we can negotiate. I'm not beyond holding the umbrella so that we....I mean you could get in more hunting and would even go as far as running defense with my detector, sweeping the sheep poop out of your way. :detecting:
