equinox 800 threshold question

New member
I hunt in the park and field modes 90% of the time and the rest beach at a large inland lake. I don't hunt for gold nuggets.

I have never adjusted the threshold setting. Amy I missing something here that I should know about changing the threshhold setting in park and field modes?

Its something that is mostly personal choice, but adjusting too far can affect response. Raising it a few point until you have a barely audible constant hum is preferred by some, while silent is preferred by others. If you set an audible threshold you will hear it go silent when it goes over anything you have discriminated out.

See page 44 of the on-line manual:

Its not a true threshold. ... so basically its NOISE. It can be used to break up target tones kind of like running AM with iron turned down low. It will only affect a target if you turn it up to loud. I prefer not using it and getting my machine as quiet as possible.
