Etrac continues to recover!

Over the last 20 years I completely hunted-out the yard of an 1850's house with my team of Garretts. I recovered some pretty nice coins over the years from that yard, however I would have bet good money that there was nothing left. A couple weeks ago I decided to give it one last try with my Etrac before the grass got deep. I started off right in the front yard, within the old circular driveway. After scrubbing the ground for a while with nary a signal, all of a sudden - a nice solid 12-38 signal at 5 inches. I kinda figured it was an Indian Head, and sure nuff, out pops the great and rare 1870. I got this put away in my cotton-filled container, and continued across the yard at a snail's pace, but now with a renewed sense of focus. After only 15 feet or so, Whoa! That wonderful warble of deep silver, 12-47 and pure, the depth reading at 8 inches. My heart now beating hard, I figured this was big silver, so i cut a deep paint-can size plug, and folded it over. My ProPointer indicated it was still in the hole, so I worked my fingers down into the loose soil and........ there it was! My first Piece of Eight! I sat there for a while and admired the thing, then placed it in my container, filled in the hole and carefully replaced the sod. Filled with excitement, I decided to "cash-out" and head home to show the wife the great finds. While I was sliding the Etrac coil along the ground towards the truck, WooHoo, a sweet 12-46 at 5 inches! A quick plug later, and the extra fine 1875 Seated Liberty Dime is in my hand. Without a doubt, my best coin finds within a 1-hour period in my entire 30-year hunting career.

The 1870 Indian Head and 1875 Seated dime are both in fantastic condition. The 2-bit piece was cut from a 1784 Don Carlos Spanish Dollar minted in Mexico. The grass in that yard is now too deep to hunt, but you can bet I will be there next fall when everything dies down.

Without a doubt, the Etrac is the most amazing machine I have ever used. Anybody want to buy a Garrett?

WOW AND AGAIN WOW!! Do you suppose the yard will be truly "hunted out" now? Thanks for the story and pictures of the finds!!!

That is totally cool. What a great hunt. Thanks for the story

Awsome finds WOW !!

Awesome finds - I'm interested - was there any junk around those finds that precluded you from finding them previously?

I've never had anything but Minelabs but have come to expect that when I go to a spot like you describe where lots of other machines have been that I will still do well.I have done it many times with the SE and now even more so with the E-trac.Great finds great going....and go back soon
