I notice a slam sound when i go over a target. Is this the unit falsing. can there ba an adjustment to stop it from slaming?

I'm guessing he might mean the THUNK sound we sometimes hear along with the target sound. If you are trying to run with very high sensitivity you will hear many STRANGE noises coming from your machine. I would suggest backing off on the sensitivity levels untill you are more comfortable with your machine. The darn thing will still give amazing depth even in the lower settings, and the audio and ID will be much more stable and easier to understand. You can always come back later and hunt again it the higher levels!

I have the same noise only when I'm using a large coil, and yes I have found out that noise is for deeper targets, to the edge of the reach. because the other day I decided to investigate and decided to open a big plug and dig in, after 17" my S-1 probe give me the same CLUNK noise and 2" deeper I got solid signal from the probe it end up been a 2" water Valve of copper at 21". I was impress about the depth but it was there.
the water valve was not connected to a tube or anythng it was just descarded and forgotten for long time.
I was using my WOT 15" at the time.
Hope this can help you but from that day I pay more attention to those CLUNKS signals that I get, Just in case is a good target.
