ETrac with 12x15 is a no go at the beach

Got in the 12x15 for the beach. Headed out after work. Got to the beach and when i turned it on it went nuts. Almost like EMI. Noise canceled,Auto -1,2,3 didnt do much. If i hold the coil above the sand "Dry sand" 5 inches it seemed better. If the coil toches the sand i get the falsing. I went to manual all the way down to 7 and still got some chatter. You can hear the threshold going in and out. Pinpointing was imposible because of the pulsing. This is odd because the stock coil doesnt do this at this same beach.

Could this be a bad coil? I took a good look at it and cant see anything wrong.

I've used a 12x15 coil many times on S.W. Fla. beaches and have found it to be as stable if not more so than the stock coil. Sounds like you may have a faulty coil. Was there any chance that you were around any electrical interference ?

No none. I even walked down towards the water and the other end of the beach. I did try and hunt with it. But it was so unstable i knew something wasnt right. I guess i'll be going through the prosess of an exchange. Thank you for your reply.

I would think the coil should run as smooth as the pro-coil. I have spent many hours on the beach with my E-trac with the pro-coil and the 15" WOT and both are quiet as a church mouse except on targets to dig. I would be led to think the coil is bad.

What does it do on dry ground? I'm just curious if it did the same in your yard or park that would probably sound like the bad coil scenerio!

on the way back to the car I stopes by a grass area. It was better but still chattering. I was able to put the coil on the ground though. I put it on my tabe Away from anything. Turned it on with auto +3 and it was stable. If I touched or moved the coil it falsed. Moving just the wire did nothing. The best way to dicribe what happening. It's just like running at 30 manual in your house. I know it's not right. It should be more stable than that. A little I can deal with. But this can't be used to hunt with.

we will have to swap it out for you.
