Ever have a good coin under a tree root?

I was hunting this park that i had never hunted before,i decided to try under these huge oak trees,
they looked to be a hundred years old.
I often hunt under these just for that reason.
People used the shade back then too!
I was going beside this one tree and i got a really good Silver kind of signal.I pinpointed it,this is when i realised i had left the digger in the truck.
So,walking back to the truck to get it,(and a drink of soda).
I then walk back to the tree and start to dig.
I dig down about six inches and start hitting two fairly large tree roots.
These arent just single roots, they have runners coming off from them everywhere,I'm thinking,Oh great.
I start chopping off some of the little runners to get access to more dirt, and this seemed to take forever,
like i have a small pile of runner debris!
Anyway,i finally start to get under the edge of the root, and try pinpointing, with the probe,
Sounds like silver,so i dig some more,By this time i am like wanting to get a chainsaw and cut the roots out,
But i don't,i just keep digging and digging some more.
i finally start chopping at the smaller root with my digger and succeed in chopping it in two pieces.
I try to get under it and it keeps flipping back over,RIGHT IN THE WAY!
so i grab it and pull, and pull, and pull,Just like i'm pulling your Leg!
Then i woke up.
Have a good day and dont chop the roots if you can help it!

Good one, you had me going. I have dug a few goodies from under roots. I keep a sharp pair of clippers in my detecting stuff that cut through one and a half inch roots.

How about the opposite? Ever dig a shallow old coin laying on top of a root? I have done that a couple times.
