Explorer ll fun! Yeah?

I went to another local hunted out, no silver left, pounded to death park the other day with my Explorer ll. i been there before but didn't find anything of interest. This time a very expierinced Explorer user met me there to give me some points. The only deep signals were mostly Wheaties but I came upon one that sounded a tad trashy but had a hint of goodness to it. Two of the pennies were found elsewhere at the park but 41cents was a pocket spill from what I figure must of been from the 1940's.
So far since the Explorer came into my life last September I have found
2 silver dimes
2 silver halves
lots of Wheaties
1 silver quarter
0 gold/silver rings
1 buffalo nickle
I also discovered my headphones are really crappy after I tried my teacher's grey ghosts.

I found the Grey Ghosts to be even better than the Killer Bees that I got. Glad I decided to really give them a try as the Grey Ghosts just sat because I knew the KBs were good. They're good but not as good. Jim

A good pair of headphones can really make the difference:detecting: If you can't hear it, it's hard to dig it:shrug: Great finds

So you are telling me that if I have an average pair of headphones I will not hear some signals but if I have GG I will? I think that is an exaggeration. I do believe you will get better sound quality though.

Oh yeah - I must have quality headphones and I don't hunt without headphones. My SunRay Gold Pro & Rats probably get the most use.

I tell the truth. Where I noticed the big difference was in pin pointing the deep ones. With my pair the signal was faint and sputter. Where as with the GG's the signal was smooth and consistent. I would not have believed had I not heard it myself. All I want for Christmas is some Grey Ghost.
Mind you ....... The Grey Ghost are the only HQ detecting phones i ever used. I'm sure their are others too.

I believe you there. It probably would make quite a difference on the deepies.

Makes sense. I know there is a world of difference on what you get for headphones for your MP3 player. You get regular cheap ones and u can barely hear it. U buy better ones and it's much more distinct and clear and louder too.

My pleasure Crispytoo. Just so happen to have them here next me......These were my 2nd pair of headphones that I bought at a dealers shop. Before I use to get discount store brands that were made for personal stereo players.I kept busting those. I think I only paid 29.99....maybe 39.99. for these here. The sticker on the side of one of the phones says "Calrad' . Independent volume control and perfect for my needs at the time when my primary detector was a Ace250. Made the "BING BING BING" much more bearable. They're made pretty good too. Actually. They're not bad headphones at all. I don't think I missed any targets because of them. I just really have to listen hard for them.I guess crappy isn't the word i should have used. I should have used "Economy" instead. Now I feel bad.
But I still want some Grey Ghost!

I just saw a Koss UR-30 headphones in the classified section. I have the same that came with my EX-II, but haven't tried them. They look more like stereo headphone to me, and I already have some nice stereo headphones that I'm afraid to use outdoors. So my Koss have been backup for anyone who tags along with me waiting to be used.
A friend of mine use the Koss UR-30 on his SE and says it has emphasis on the bass, and comfortable to him. I remember him saying that he once tried some cheap headphones and the audio kept clipping in and out like a loose connection or bad wire. He said he tied the chord on his trailer hitch ball on his way home and they couldn't take the beating lol. I'll stick to my Sunray Gold Pro & Ratphones for now.

I use the Koss UR-30 too so I couldn't really speak with authority on what a really good pair would sound like but obviously it would make a nice difference.

The dude I was with said the Koss that came with his unit weren't bad. Great for high tones. (Or did he say bad?)
Don't matter cause Dad's Christmas check is coming soon and I'm gonna get me some grey ghost! First the
headphones, then a 8" coil, Then the new pro coil everyone raves about, a GI Joe with life like hair. Wanted one
ever since I was a kid. And a good back up detector that has GB features.
