F 75 coil options

Ok. Anybody got an opinion on best cool to compliment the 11 and 5" stock coils. I have Seen benefits of using the 5 incher in places over the 11 for separation but I want something else. Is there an in between size that rocks or a bigger ultimate or Nell that gets better depth and separates at least as good as the 11 inches. Stock or aftermarket.

I've got the 6.5" Fisher Elliptical (concentric) coil for my F-75 and it is a real coin hunting tool I seldom use the 11" DD anymore. I find it reaches similar depth!. A dream to pinpoint with and good in trashy spots. No real advantage over your current 5" coil, though.

I am waiting on a NEL 9.5" x 5.5" DD Sharpshooter coil to arrive. I think the slightly smaller DD coil will be a good all-around coil for coins in parks and homesites. Have heard great things on this coil from folks who have them.

If you're a relic or cache hunter a 13" or 15" might be nice.

Another thought is a 1" coil. That's the Sunray FX-1 pinpointer. Attaches to the detector with a little box that lets you switch over and pinpoint - using the detector's batteries, display and headphones. You never forget to bring a pinpointer this way. It's also handy if you want to poke around a foundation or in nooks and crannies in buildings.

One advantage of the 6.5 over the 5 inch is the shape itself. I love the fact that I can shove it down in the hole and use it almost like a pinpointer. I am a big fan of the Sunray Fx-1 as well. I always enjoyed using the 10 inch coil off of the F70 too. You can't go wrong with an F75. Let us know what you try and what you think.

Is that the 10"? That one has earned its stripes with the Gold Bug and Gold Bug 2. Should be great for nugget hunting with the F-75. I couldn't find much about folks using it for coins (one reason I went with the 9.5" NEL, instead).

It is the newer 10x5 DD. Has a hot spot near the tip. Due to winter I have no history to share about this coil yet.
I am suffering from boredom.

I really like the NEL coils. I run the Sharpshooter coil for an "all-arounder". Its got great depth & super seperation. For a depth monster I like the Tornado. I've even plucked out buttons from a bed of nails at a home site with the Tornado. Can't go wrong with either coil.

Ok thanks. So you do see a difference in the sharpshooter vs the stock 11? If so I'm gonna order the sharpshooter.

Hey Brian,

The main difference is the separation in iron and trash. I think the Sharpshooter is an excellent choice. Mine has become my go-to coil for everyday use. A few months back, I found a 1773 Virginia Halfpenny in a trashy site that I have worked to death with the stock coil. I know I walked over it at least 100 times. Found it the first time I took the Sharpshooter there.

Nah. There's a bunch on eBay. Check some of the sponsors on here first, you're sure to get a good deal. Here's a few good guys that may have one, not 100% sure they carry them:

I see Big Boy Hobbies is a sponsor here and Bart is a good man. I'd recommend them (if they carried NEL). http://www.bigboyshobbies.net/

I just ordered one from Colonial Metal Detectors. http://www.colonialmetaldetectors.com/

They are great at communicating order status & questions and seem like good folks.

X2 for Colonial Metal Detectors. Rich is a great guy to deal with and his service is way above par. I have ordered stuff from him in the morning and he shipped it the same day with free shipping. Got my Tornado coil for my AT gold from Rich. Good stuff.
