I just picked one up today. I have been wanting one for a while. Not that I needed it, I just thought it looked like a neat little unit. I was surprised at how much better it is built compared to several first Texas units I had previously in about the same price range. The handle seems sturdier and the control housing is more substantial. It is easy to key through the settings. This is the first one I have saw in person. I thought the coil was kind of odd shaped in the pics online I have viewed but, in person it really is nice and large. A little different but not so bad after all. I am looking forward to trying it out real soon. Any of you who have one, speak up with your thoughts. Also a friend told me other DD coils from FT can work on it. Has anyone tried their standard size 11 DD on an F44 yet??

I think the F44 is an awesome detector. I got one for my gf with the 11" dd coil and was hesitant to give it to her once I tried it out. It's really a great machine in a lot of ways! Back light, rainproof, notch, all metal mode, good depth very nice build quality etc etc . And you can adjust the tones which is very nice. I took her detecting in a farm field and she found a 1749 1 reale with it, now she got me beat for oldest silver coin. All in all the F44 can hunt! Great machine I'm very impressed with it.

Good to know Sand Dog. I really do not need the 11 DD coil for it but hey you never know, I may get one eventually. Anyways, that coin your sweetie found is an old one indeed!! I have a Chinese coin that goes back to the 1500's according to a reference I saw online about it. But to me it does not count because of no date minted onto the coin. Thanks for your thoughts. I am getting fired up on this season already. I only detect in the fall and winter months anyways. So this first little cool snap we have had this weekend had made that old feeling start to flare up!! If anyone else wants to speak up, lets hear about it!!

I have made good friends with my f44, its super fast recovery speed, and exceptional depth from the stock coil will treat you right. I have also noticed this machine is a dime sniffing hound. Crazy the number of dimes I pick up with it. And the weatherproofing is awesome. No running for cover when the unexpected rain shower tries to ruin your day. Me personally I pretty much use the custom mode or all metal on max sens for just about every hunt.

Glad to know this. Thanks for the input. I will take it out next time I go messing around detecting. The weather has not broke enough for me here in TN just yet. Still to many chiggers out there for my taste. Looking forward to it though

I JUST LOVE MY F44,, WHEN I'M ABLE TO GO THATS THE ONE I WILL USE.. STILL HAVE MY F2 AS BACK UP & COMPADRE FOR TOT LOTS.. I HAVE TO SAY IT GOES A LITTLE DEEPER THAN THE F2 WITH BETTER VDI READING.. NOT NEAR AS JUMPY NUMBERS AS THE F2 ON SAY AROUND 7 INCHES.. BUT ALL AND ALL ITS A GREAT MACHINE..
