F5 is there something wrong with me!!

Digger 45

Active member
I have had my f5 for about four years now, i have found over forty rings and over a thousand dollars in coins, i have since purchased two other more expensive metal detectors and have put many hours on them with not nearly as good success, i keep coming back to the F5. It just seems to separate so much better than the others, i have the large and small coil but use the original coil most of the time.

Where other detectors seem to show pull tabs at many different numbers the 5 is narrowed down to only a couple of numbers, one of my detectors show a pull tab at 10,12,16,18,22,28. This makes a lot of digging for a pull tab that if you don't you will miss the rings.

I believe that the F5 is one of the best ring and coin detector out there.

Pretty cool testimony! :please:

Mike Hillis has said it for a long time, the F5 is the perfect jewelry hunting rig...I suspect Dave J had his hand on the circuit design...this is exactly what I love about the F70 as well...super crisp tones and dead on tightness...surgical...its hard to put into a post how dead on tight these things are without sounding like a liar!

We all think that the new model or a more expensive detector will get us more prizes but the real truth is when you find a unit that works for you work it to death, get to know it so well that nothing else compares. The F5 is my main tool.

Never had the pleasure of running the F5...will say it would be one supreme fight to take my '70 from me...glad you posted, pound for pound, these F units are one super rig in field. Dont care who you are, very hard to beat..

Not in my book!

Everyone LOOKS FOR THE MOST DEPTH. But looking back at the many thousands of targets I dug most were in the first 8 inches. The F5 has the best meter, solid 8 inch depth. A real winner.

When people ask about my F5, I tell people it's a fun detector with a user friendly interface, hard to beat it for coins and jewelry.

I have owned my F5 for about a month now and love it. I traded up from a F2 because we have high mineralization here and ground balance is a must. Love how everything is there for you to see. The best UI I have ever seen. It also has a learning curve. I was fortunate to have someone recommend Mike Hillis's bible on the F5. It has really helped.

I just bought my F5 a few weeks ago based on Mike Hillis' posts and Bill_S' videos on youtube. LOVE the UI, the light weight, fast recovery... hell, I like it all! Just sayin'

Ditto to all the above. The F5 is probably why I don't have a 11" DD coil for my F70. Sooner or later I will run into good deal on a F5 with that 11" DD coil on it. Then I will have the best of both worlds.------IB

I have had mine for 6+ years now. Until I bought the F2 a few months ago, it's all I needed. Nothing has come out (or exists) that beats it for the price for my style of hunting.
