F5 Keeps finding Gold & Platinum

Digger 45

Active member
Eight rings so far this year, mostly silver until last week when i found the small gold ring with six small diamonds, its 14k and a very pretty ring. Then last week at the same park i found this Platinum ring. It is marked PT 950 and has three 1/4 kt very clear diamonds. The setting on the F5 was at 65 gain, disc at 20 and 0 on the threshold.

The gold ring read at 25-27 but the Platinum read at a constant 33 not moving a bit no matter which way i moved across it, this was something different for me, most targets will fluctuate a little on the meter. Both rings were about 3 inches down. I have hunted this same spot several times with good luck and have cleared out most of the trash.

The F5 like Mike has said is one great machine, i have used it a lot and think i know it pretty well but still learn something new almost every time i go out.

That is just sweet! , and both of those would hit inside the nickel tone on the 4 tone audio mode mode (25 to 35).

Congrats on two nice finds.:drool:

Thanks Mike, all of us F5ers owe a lot to you for testing and sharing your results with us. So much of your information has made it able for us to enjoy this sport with some very nice finds. Thanks so much

Nice finds unfortunately especially the 33 is a ton of pulltabs in our local parks...darned if you dig and darned if you don't////

Fortunately F5 is a real nice light unit and does like gold rings....and certainly nice finds.....doubt if I would have dug the 33 but the 25-27 is low nickle -high foil where about 1/3 of the gold rings lost fall..Usually thin womans rings with nice stones and would have dug....

I came across Mike's F5 tips, a 3MB file, downloaded it, printed it off, three ring bindered it, and now I have an F5 bible! Great info Mike!!!

Also, GREAT finds Digger!!!! ME JEALOUS!

It was mentioned that there are too many pull tabs in the 25-35 range, i pull an average of 25 to 50 pull tabs every time out. Some will come in at 27 or 30 but just can't leave that spot thinking that i may have passed up something good. Except for silver i have found rings all over the scale. Dry soil and wet soil read out different on almost every detector. I think it just depends how serious you are about finding treasure.

What Digger45 just said about pulltabs is very important if you want gold...you cant argue with the numbers, (8 so far THIS year).:clapping:.just make it your goal to dig 25-50 pulltabs per outing, especially the ones that have no business being where they are, like in a baseball field, totlot, soccer field, football field..sure theres tons of them around the bleachers, its those strange flyers out there all by themselves, also the zinc penny signals, just go ahead and dig yourself 50 of them per outing as well..same rules apply to the location..thats the signal the Mens class rings fire off on!. This focus will find you gold, as well as making you a very fast pinpointer/retrieval artist..dont get caught in an active or public sports field with any sort of shovel however, or dressed like you are there to "dig"... get good with a screwdriver...you are only going after targets in the top 5" anyway. really just the top 3" for the most part. F5 Bible, Hillis version! Thats great! Now on Sundays you can go to Dirt Church all ready for a beep sermon!:rofl:

The preacher has spoken and the theology of the Dirt Church is to resurrect all coins back to life and as much other things thought to be dead and forgotten. Do your due diligence to treat the Earth porperly and with respect, and you too may be rewarded as Digger 45 has been so blessed. Seriously, we can thank the God of all things for blessing us all with His Gold and Silver, Amen

Awesome........:thumbup::fisher:
