F70/F75 coil question...

basstrackerman

Well-known member
Im looking at the 6.5",10"DD,10"concentric and 13" ultimate coil...give me your thoughts on these coils guys... I have the 11"DD on my F70 and once my F75LTD2 gets here i will also have the 5"DD.. I mainly use DD coils but like the shape of the 10" concentric and 6.5" concentric.. So while we all wait for the shipping of new machines and updates of older ones maybe we can talk coils...give me your thoughts please..

I use the stock 11 inch coil on my F75 for most of my hunting. I usually switch to the 5 inch (puck) when I am doing my tot lots or if there is alot of junk in the area and I need better separation. I have used the 10 inch a few times but the other 2 coils are my go to choices. I have not used the 13 ultimate coil but have often wondered about extra depth and better ground coverage along with the extra weight.

I tend to like the smaller coils because I hunt in areas with a lot of trash. Here is some testing results I have done with the coils I have. If you do the math the little 6.5" elliptical has the smallest foot print, but gives me a little better ground coverage over the 5".

I never used the an elliptical coil before but I got the 10" on my F70 and it is nice...and a smooth responsive coil also.
Not as deep as the 11" DD but still pretty deep.
Good ID's on targets up to 8" or so, audio tones on targets up to 10" and a little past.
It's almost like hunting with a DD coil and that longer scanning field because of the shape, or seems that way.

The 5" DD is a wonder.
Great separation in severely heavy trash, surprisingly deep.
I can get up to about 10" in my great soil with mine.

The 11" DD is my usual coil.
I can turn the sense down low to in effect shrink and sharpen up that scanning field to what seems like a laser-like pinpoint, and use it to hunt in heavy trash and pluck out some great targets, and I have dug targets in the 12-15" area and actually got not just audio but screen info on a few of those which is unusual at that depth.
Don't think I want or need any coil that would go deeper since most of the good targets I have dug around here range in the 6-8" depth area.

I have and use the 13 inch Ultimate coil. This coil works very well for me when I am hunting fields and pastures for civil war relics. As far as being deeper I am not sure but I do think it handles EMI issues better. The stock 11 inch coil is hard to beat in most places but the 13 inch Ultimate really covers a lot of ground. I usually run in bp process and 11 or 12 inch targets are not uncommon with either coil. HH :fisher::minelab::teknetics:
