What if it finds out?
I have spent time building trust with my F70, I would hate for it to think ill of me!
Thanks, I will try it.
mudpuppy said:Thats a good question Pine...I know some guys that can manually adjust the GB like to set up a little bit negative for hunting deep silver...a few years back there was a good conversation going on about how it lit up deep silver going negative a bit on the GB...so I went out and tried to "trick" my detector like IBdiggin was saying...tried GB-ing over the top of a small iron signal, like a bobby pin, and also on a very clean patch of ground, and also not GB-ing at all...I tried to pay attention to see if anything made a difference on depth or speed or anything...then I just said the heck with it and have seldom ground balanced my rig since...
So one minute I'd be hunting a woodchip totter, the next a clear sand beach, and the next a park built on iron slag foundry fill...without taking the time to GB at all in any of them...running midrange sens and digging targets in all of those locations with speed, depth, and ferocity...I dont really worry about it..and focus more on the location and targets there instead of any of the settings.
disclaimer: I'm not hunting deep old silver, just any clad, silver, or gold target of opportunity in the top 5" preferably...a guy know pretty quick when hunting a spot if a fellow needs to settle down and set up right...if its not old dirt, theres no old silver, and most all targets will be in the top 5" anyway...old field hunting would demand a better understanding and more care to this GB feature of course...but for general around town duty, a guy can just turn the thing on and swing away...
