F75 and LTD with target separation....

Duggan

New member
I hunt a couple sites that are littered.....blanketed more like....with old tin cans and nails...I have pulled quite a few buttons and minnies out with my XLT and a small coil. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the two compare...? Seriously thinkn bout taking the plunge....

I also have done very well in such places with the F 75, particularly when using the 61/2" coil. I have a LTD under the Christmas tree with the 5" DD small coil and suspect it will work even better. I have been very pleased with the results I have had hunting the trash and actually look for such spots to hunt. HH jim tn

I've heard peope say that the F75 LTD isn't good in trash and it's mainly a relic machine. I've owned an E-Trac which people have said is the best machine for hunting coins in trash. I dug more rusty nails with the E-Trac than any detector that I've ever owned ( I've owned 9 different detectors ). I pulled coins out with my T-2 in areas that I hunted hard with the E-Trac. I love the T-2 but can stand how much noise you have to deal with in the boost mode , plus I wish it had a backlight because I do alot of hunting in low light situations. I'm trading my T-2 in for a F75 LTD because I heard that it is way quiter in boost mode plus it has a backlight. I'm mainly a coinshooter and hunt areas that are pretty trashy. I hope that poeple are wrong who say that the F75 LTD is just a relic detector and does'nt do well finding coins in trash. I guess that I'll find out this spring. Any F75 LTD owners opinion on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks , CoinShooter-Craig

The LTD does great finding deep coins in trashy areas. The key is to sweep slow.

If the noise is too much for you with the LTD, don't be afraid to turn the sensitivity down. You'll still get great depth.

Hi Craig,

If you look through the listings you'll see my post about the ball field with the ltd.
( F&% LTD ) I love it for deep coins. Its a killer.

I don't have much time on the F75 LTD and never used a standard F75, but so far have found the F75 LTD impressive.

Not quite the same as relic hunting, but a 2 hour try at the trashy end of a local school with the F75 LTD brought home about 3 times the change as I'd pull up in 2 hours with either an XL-Pro or a Tejon at the same location. Separating targets with the 6.5 inch elliptical coil is much quicker with this detector than with the XL-Pro and the 6 inch coil or the Tejon and the 5.75 inch coil. Much easier to pick things out of iron and very small foil trash.

Here is where I first posted that hunt during very early stages of learning the LTD:

I still have a lot more to learn. I am now generally running the sensitivity a bit lower. The detector is much quieter and still really nails good targets.

My F75 and T2 excelled over the Etrac in trash.

I've heard guys say that the E-trac is the best thing since sliced bread. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I think with rusty nail reading on the bottom of the graph that when the signal jumped it would jump to the top of the graph where good targets read. Then it would leave me wondering if there was a coin being masked by junk. It always turned out to be junk. Maybe if I would have just dug the solid repeatable signals I wouldn't have dug so many rusted nails , but any signal that sounds even slightly good - I dig it. The other detectors that I used gave me way less "questionable" signals , and I spent way less time wasting my time digging junk. Just my opinion - and you know what they say about opinions - need I say more. Happy Hunting for those of you that still can. Happy Holidays , CoinShooter-Craig

The graph is useless on the ET because the conductive line does not have a curve like the SE. All you need to do with the ET is keep it in gerrous/2 tones and use the conductive number to tell you what to dig, as long as the ferrous number is in the correct range. I never dig any iron with the ET, except for washers or harness rings, without knowing that it is iron before I dig it. Nails are no problem at all. I have an LTD too but the ET outhunts it as well as the SE and the V3. They are all good machines but the ET is the best as long as you do not try to use it like an SE. The Ltd is good to though... and it is better if you dont try to use it in BP or CL like a regular F75, it is different and works well a little off the ground and with a slower sweep speed... at least for me.

If you can do that on an XLT that I had once and it sucked at Relic huntting then hold on to your hat the F75 will set your dirt on fire..it is super speed super at unmasking and get the little 5" DD and strap yourself in for a ride!!!!!

I've had an Etrac, an SE Pro, and an F75. I think the Etrac is misunderstood (kinda like that fella on the other forum). First coin I ever dug with it was a silver dime, last one was a large cent, and I never dug iron with it. I never tried to make it an Explorer though - I just used it as it was, which was a great detector. If you go strictly by results it was the best I've owned though I did well with the F75 too. I think they are all great machines just have to learn their strengths like anything else and use those while avoiding their weaknesses. Then again I know not every machine is for every user people bash the Coinstrike but I think it's a great machine, it's not beep and dig but just because something isn't your style doesn't mean someone else won't do well with it or it's junk.

I agree dug more Indian Head Pennies with my coinstrike than any machine ever owned..
