Is anyone running the Detech 13" Ultimate or the NEL 13" Tornado on their F75 Ltd. Any feedback on the performance compared to the stock coil would be much appreciated. If you had a choice what one would you prefer and why?
I am running the NEL Sharpshooter, NEL Tornado, and the NEL BIg for the F75ltd2. Send me a PM and I will answer any questions about all three. Do not have a Ultimate coil
Ok, Here is my take. I love the NEL Coils. I traded my SEF 8x6 for my NEL Sharpshooter. The Tornado is a deep coil but the NEL big is deeper and hits stronger. The big actually hits small targets as well. Found 2 CW buttons, 2 flat buttons and a 3 ringer 69 cal with it in just a couple of weeks. U need to use a sling for the Big coil. The tornado is not bad at weight without a sling. I believe if I did not have the Tornado or the Big I would go with the Big coil. It it not hard to pinpoint. I make a egg shaped plug centered at the tip of the coil. It seems to always be in the plug area. If U want another coil to search yards with I would get the Tornado. The big is for more open areas where you need less trash and bigger holes to dig. I also have the NEL sharpshooter and tornado for my Etrac. The sharpshooter works magic on the etrac. Finds nickels like crazy I am going to get a Big when I find some more money to get away from my wife. I found the above after I had already pounded that area with the tornado on both my F75 and Etrac. It pulled them out. I used to be a SEF only but after experiencing NEL coils I believe they are the future for me. SEF is the past. I do not a dealer just a customer
I am not trying to make Detech look bad but I appreciate honest opinion especially before I put my money down on a product. Results may very but it is just my experience.

I had one NEL coil (bought new from authorized dealer) and it was faulty . When I wrote to NEL customer service for advice the response was abysmal at best. At least the dealer made it right. I turned to Detech after that and when I needed a spare part for one of my coil ears, Detech Australia were super helpful and took care of everything free of charge and the best part was that the coil was bought second hand with no receipt. It's possible NEL coils perform better vs Detech of same size when it comes to depth but I will never know. One piece of advice I can give to anybody who is looking at foreign coils whether new or used, test, test and test again. Air test them, ground test them for accuracy in depth readings and identification and test for proper pinpointing.
I'm not bashing NEL. I know they make excellent coils since so many people seem to be happy with them. I just thought I'd give my 2 cents for what it's worth.
Another thing for those who might be interested in weight: The Detech Ultimate is definitely lighter than the Tornado.
Bad experience can make U not want a certain coil. I have read that the Ultimate does not hit as hard on targets as the tornado. I do not know this from experience but just what i have read on this forum and others. If I got stuck with a faulty coil I might have your opinion as well. Maybe the quality has got better now. Depending on when U bought the coil. Your opinion is important also. We all gather all the facts that we have squired here on the site and experience with the product and decide what to buy. I had a Whites V3i. Lots of people love it. Me, never could find anything deep. Did not work for me but works for others. I had every coil know to man for the V3i no help. Got tired of going out with my buddy who had a e-trac and found silver all the time and I found next to nada. Traded it for a brand new F75ltd2. Found more quality stuff with it than I every found with the V3i. I sometimes think U get a dud. Mine might have been one. I sent it back to whites to be checked out but it still did not perform like I wanted. I hunt ollllllld sites and want depth. Just my experience.
I swung the NEL Big first and the TOrnado today. When I put the Tornado coil it felt lightweight. Did find a Indiana Service token with the NEL Big. It is about double the size of a eraser head. It is like a dot on the NEL Big in comparison to size.
Does your tornado have epoxy filling in the complete coil bottom including cross braces? I weighed my 13" ultimate and it was 21.3 oz with cover as you have to use cover on those, the tornado weighs 19.7oz without cover and says you can run without cover.. So yes lighter
On my postal scale the Ultimate weighs 19.4 oz with cover. This is for the F5. Perhaps it weighs more for the F75 ? I no longer have the Tornado. I had to send it back as it was not working properly. I couldn't get a replacement. One thing I am absolutely sure of is that when I had the Tornado it weighed substantially more than the Ultimate I have now. They probably made a new lighter version to compete.
