F75 FA processor and the NEL snake

WV62

Well-known member
Guys and gals I am not hearing a lot of talk about the FA processor on the F75. Today I started out looking for silver coins and I could see nothing like that was coming out of the ground today. I just left the NEL snake on the stick switched over to the FA processor. I was in a pretty trashy area and I was really impressed how it was singling out the coins from the trash from the surface down to about 5".

Maybe it was the combination of the FA processor and the snake coil, but it was really doing a good job today with the clad and pennies today.

My settings were FA, sensitivity 80, 4 tones and still left the disc at 0. Also after I started getting the hang of it I was running the coil pretty fast along the top of the grass and just waiting for a high tone.

I can't wait until I find a ball field or fair ground with a lot of fresh drops, I think I can clean up big time.

F A and the snake sounds like a pretty good combo to me on trashy sites. Keep reporting, please, Ron. HH jim tn

Ron:

Can you explain to we people who do not know what the FA processor does??????????.

Well the FA processor was a added item when I sent my 75 in for the upgrade, and it came standard on the later 75s with the D.S.T. (Digital Shielding Technology)

FA stands for Fast Process and here is what the manual says.
This process is for trash laden ground. Each target responds with a faster (shorter) audio duration. This improves target separation.

Now for the the user like me I can pick up on the high tone target on the primary swing and then go back and short stroke over the target and most of the time I am able to narrow it down to the actual high tone target and get a good ID number and the confidence meter also gives me a reading either good or bad. But the air test depth is not as good as the other processors.

I got the F75 LTD 2 after having used the original F75 for 6 years. I've been quite successful with the FA process with the standard 11" coil on a really trashy field. I am using the DP tone option which make the high conductors really stand out. I couldn't just dig all low conductors, or I would ruin the field, so many of them there! DISC 0 and SENS 99, you couldn't do that with the original F75!

Actually I think FA stands for fast audio. I could be wrong will dig out the manual and check. I have used it some but it seems to distort the signal a bit and seems to add a bit of usability also. I may just need to spend more time using it.

I did do some top of ground testing for separation and could not see enough difference to over ride the above so I just have not used it much. Others have had better/different results so I say try it and see.

Nothing in stone just my limited observations.

I find FA process to have less power so depth suffers compared to say DE.
So I aways boost the sensitivity of FA up 50 to 70%.
I find operating in DE at sensitivity levels of 50 or less adequate for coin shooting.
I also noticed FA is much more sensitive to EMI in most urban areas were there is possibly WIFI. I notice that a lot near school buildings.
I like FA using Delta Pitch. DP tones. And listen for the high tone. That does not highlight nickels but I am ok with that. Zero Desc, no noching, 5" coil.
So in my experience FA is one of those settings you keep in you tool pouch for special conditions.

Next time you are out hunting, find good target and switch to FA before you dig it to experience the differance.

I was out again today with the F75 and the snake coil, and was running FA again, this time for about 4 hours.
I took it to a couple of ball fields next to the park and I new it had been hunted a few weeks a go. I saw a old guy with a Whites working it, it is okay if I call him old guy, he calls me the old guy hunting with the Fisher.LOL

Anyway he missed a lot of quarters, I got 13, I also got 5 dimes, 2 nickles and 9 pennies some were zinc. I don't think this setup missed a lot of coins, I was hitting them at just about any speed I wanted to swing.

One of the nickels I found just by looking and the other was in the hole with a quarter. I tried a couple of time to use 4h tones to get the nickels but it was slowing me down with digging parts of pull tabs. I also tried DP tone for a little while, but the tones over a quarter were not as high pitch and I thought I better stay with what works for me.

Not a record breaking day but I had a good time.

Nice going there Ron.
Battle of the old guys! lol
I think I am older than you so I can say that.....

I thought all old guys used whites machines

is the F75 as fast as the F19 ? its an honest question as I have never used a F75.

AJ

Somebody else will need to take that question, I never used a F19.

I can compare with the Goldbug with the 11", but the F75 LTD with the FA process is definitely faster. The standard coil on the F19 is the 10x5" so it should have better separation than the Goldbug.
