I knew there may be bugs in a newly updated software..i was ok with that..i still am ok with that..this new F75LTD2 is without a doubt the best detector ive ever used in disc mode.. Deep fast and silent..ive dug a ton of iffy signals with it..they were junk..on the good targets its very clear and if target is mixed with iron the good target always seems very loud and clear.. Almost like the iron sound is a whisper..

I agree, it is a great detector. I'm not trying to be a complainer, more like testing and pointing out issues/differences. I'm a network engineer and very analytic, thus my love for detector tech more so than actual detecting. Also has a lot to do with time. If I had more time to detect I'd probably be doing that instead of posting on a forum!

Oh i dont see you as a complainer ...i do the same things as you but in a hillbilly way lol not so technical ..my pipoint in 2L & 2H i will be doing a couple resets on and or sending in once snow stops all detecting...til then its on like donkey kong!!

There are no words that I can think of to describe the sound of a deeper non ferrous object in all metal mode, and get the light bulb to go off with that "ah ha" moment. Once you hear it a few times, you begin to learn the differences simply by sound and working the coil around the target. I call it "circling the wagon". Approach the target from all angles and listen to how the audio reacts. There was a time when I had several videos on YouTube regarding this as I first started to discover it. But I have taken those down since posting them several yrs ago. One key to it is the relative size of the object. On the F75, a civil war bullet, button, coin, etc will still keep a certain size sound when "circling the wagons" even if it is deep. Nails and or smaller iron will normally be very small signal profiles. To a person with untrained ears for it...it might sound good. A lot of times if the nail doesn't give a double beep from one direction or the other, you can get it to "move" by circling. I mean the "center" of the target will move if you come at it from a different angle. Non ferrous targets will always stay put...unless a mole is holding the coin/relic hostage and moving it. Lol. This is why you'll pinpoint a target that turns out to be a nail, and realize it's in the sidewall of the hole. If you came at it from a different angle, you would note it moves around a bit from where you first located the target center to be. I'm sure this makes it clear as mud but I tried. This is one of those things that is much easier just to show how/what it sounds like instead of trying to explain it with just text.

Yeah, I can't compare pre DST and post DST units. The pre DST units were unuasable in my EMI environment.

For me, this new DST unit is the best thing since sliced bread. I love it.

Daniel,

I have never hunted for relics in all metal for any length of time. You seem to have done it a lot and with success. How do you go about it?

When your going along in AM with a powerful machine like the F, youmwill be getting bombarded with signals. Do you dig everything? If not, how do you decide what to dig? Since the F-75 shows ID numbers while in AM, i would suppose a loud signal with a steady low ID you would pass up? Obviously a strong signal with a non-ferrous ID would be dug.

Thanks

Beau has a good video explaining with the T2 on youtube that gives some visual to what Daniel described. Search for "Metal Detecting: Digging Deeper With The TekneticsT2 Metal Detector" his video's have ad's so can't post here.

I started using my F75SE in AM a few hunts back.. seemed to work well for me.. Can't wait to try the upgrade when I get it back.. I should have time to MD the week of Christmas.. HH

with a little tweaking of running a high threshold and headphones I'm getting "ok" all metal performance. It's not great, but it's also not worth sending in risking the stellar disc mode getting jacked. I can deal with the pinpoint bug. Will wait and see how things pan out with Fisher. My warranty is registered however!
