F75 noisey

shooter

Member
Ok guys heres the thing picking up plenty of coins, but shes so noisey drives you nut , sounds like your sending Morse Code, tried everything, using 3 tone and she beep all over the place I even tried full Disc makes no difference the high tone is so erratic its hard to pick out the good one, 1270 and 1265x were never this noisey and used them all the time at this place, got to be something dumb, are the rest of you guys having anything like this?

Also get a good signal thats deep maybe 10" hate digging like that at a park but don't want to give it up but nothing show up fill the hole in and theres no sound, tried raising the coil and going around it and it shows good before digging, don't even want to try the ones that say 13-14".Any ideas.

Hey Shooter,
I believe we discussed this in some PM's, can't remember. Just in case we didn't.......I'm not having that issue with mine, of course, I have the standard model and you have the LTD, right? Even when I am running 95+ Sens. any chirping I get is minimal and nothing close to annoying and it is pretty easy to distinguish a good tone (target). When in a trashy area full of tabs, I can run in the AM Motion mode, 85 Sens., Disc. 1, 3 Tones and Threshold from +1 to +3 and ground balance, of course, varies with where I am.
You didn't mention where you are running the Threshold....have you tried adjusting it? (I know that is probably a dumb suggestion and you have tried that, but, it is about the only thing you haven't mentioned trying)

Dosen't matter what you do or how you set , you just get running noise constantly no matter how you set it up , number just go crazy and the ID at the top are all over the place and nothing stops it. even dose it with the coil straight up in the air. Fisher tech heard the noise on the phone told me to set the sen. at 15 ,but no difference.[

I had major chatter issues once and a factory reset cured the issue... Determined I had changed a Notch setting which caused the detector to reject and accept at the same time...

HH Robert

As mentioned, the notch set as Robert mentioned can cause such a problem. Also, double check your coil plug connection. If that isn't tight, that will cause erratic behavior. Also check that none of the little screws have fallen out of the housing that the connection plug is in. I just had that happen with a Tek detector and the connection plug wouldn't stay tight and caused erratic behavior as you describe. Good luck. HH jim tn

what you are describing isn't right and should not be happening. There is the normal chatter/tones from what is in the ground, but rapid flashing numbers and tones should not be happening. If the connection is good and and you've tried everything mentioned and it is still doing all the erratic chattering, you could have a bad coil. Even in the worst emi situations, I have never had to lower my sen. below 40...and that is only at one site right under some serious power lines. HH jim tn

Thanks Jim finally someone understands I've done and redone everything that everybody has suggested but to no avail. Been detecting since 1982 so I'm not a newbie. I'm try to get it done on a video so you guys have a idea what I'm talking about and encase it happens to someone else.

More important then the video is getting the problem resolved. I know exactly what you are talking about and in my case it was a coil problem. If what you describe happens every time you turn the LTD on, then it needs to take a trip back to El Paso. Call Felix or Hector. HH jim tn

Going to try the 5" coil that came with it, but called fisher and Felix said to send it back to KellyCo, they were supposed to send me a call tag today but they never did so I'll have to wait till monday.

Shooter it seems my ltd did something similar to yours way back......I did a reset......a freq shift......disconected the coil wire at the housing completley and reconected.....good luck....Dan
PS also turn the sens way way down I'm talking like to single digits just to see if it will calm down....not recommeded for hunting but I turned mine down to 4 sens. once because of very bad emi under ground pipe and only God knows what else but it worked I found silver quarter buff nickle and clad no one else had found in a 40 year pounded school yard at sens of 4 I could hunt fine....coins were 4-5 inches deep It will turn back up trust me I have set mine almost anyway you can except notching.

Wiggle the connector where the coil cable connects to the control pad.See if it gets better or worse and see if you can get it tighter. If it does it with both coils and they are both tight... you probably do need to send it back. Call FTP and get an RA number before you send it back.

Your F75 is so fast it will (see) targets..and you will hear them that no other machine you owned before did. It is so fast it picks up all targets under the coil... Things you never knew were there will respond..........Almost no nulling.... So many thought there was a problem when no problem existed..

That just sucks on a new machine, Shooter......especially, if you have to send it back. You haven't had it 30 days yet, have you? I think Kellyco will take that one back and send you a new one if it is, in fact, defective. Just to have it on record, I would call them and let them know asap.

Well I guess when I pointed it straight up in the air it picked up an airplane. Just joking but thats happening also if you got an idea on this one Disc iron and foil and it still rings out not in notch straight DISC.

Had it down to 10 didn't help did the rest of the stuff you mentioned already. going to try my 5" coil ans see what happens, Jim TN said he had a problem with a coil.

Already did, Fisher wouldn't do anything yet, said go with KellyCo first being i just got it on the sept.2. Fisher heard the noise on the phone a didn't have a clue, going to try the 5" tomorrow see how that work. Everybody's been great giving me ideas but nothing seem to work.

ok i'll give it a try. Fisher said send it back to KellyCo, they were going to send a call tag today but never did.

Good luck Shooter let us know what the problem is or was ....hh.....Dan

Send it back to Kellyco???? Why?? Is Kellyco going to fix it? I wouldn't go for that... really, you need to talk to someone else at FTP and tell them that if KC isn't going to fix it or replace it you are not going to send it to them. That is an added and unacceptable time for repair or replacement. You need to talk to Kellyco and get a soild comittment from them that they are going to replace it or forget that.

Just don't accept that unless KC is going to replace it. Try talking to Mike Scott... that would make me mad.

I hope it is just your coil or your connector.
