F75 Sensitivity

As I await the arrival of my new F75 Ltd, I've been doing a lot of reading on it. One concern I have with Fishers is the chattiness. I see where some are running with pretty low sensitivity and just wondered what you F75 users feel you can go down to without losing much depth. I know Dan D.says you can go to 70 and not lose anything.

There has been a lot of posting about sen., disc. and depth. I am one that runs with as high as possible sen., but when emi is a factor, have gone as low as in the 30's and still dig 6 and 7" deep dime size targets with no problem. And, I firmly believe if I am digging good targets down to 8" that I am not missing much. I do find a disc. setting of 4 and less makes deeper targets sound better verses 5 and above in multi tones. I personally use the B P mode all the time as most of my swinging is over tall thick grass and brush and this is where the B P mode really shines. Depth is important, and the LTD/Se has plenty, but I swing one because they are outstanding in sniffing out good targets among the trash. And most of my good finds are 7" and less, but very often co- located with some trash item. Don't worry about having to lower the sen. down to a quiet number. You will still dig most old finds your coil goes over, IMHO. HH jim tn

Same for me, I like to run as high as possible, but I try to draw the line about 60. I have ran as low as one when I was trying to de-tune the machine to hunt the surface and I was still getting 3 to 4 inches. Good rule of thumb run it up into the noise and back off just a little below the noise. BP is also my preferred processor unless I am hunt jewelry then I use the JE processor. For me there is no magic sensitivity settings. That 60 or 70 setting will give you real good results.

Good luck,

Ron in WV

I would suggest leaving your new machine in factory default for awhile. The F-75 LTD is very sensitive as you will soon find out. A lot depends on where you are hunting. Read the manual and be patient and you will do fine. Don't hesitate to bring your questions here and someone has had probably the same problems and will help you. Good luck and HH :fisher::minelab::teknetics:

Thanks folr the input. What tone settings do you prefer. Since I'm primarily a coinshooter, I figured to use 3H or 4H due to giving a high tone on nickels but also read where that isn't the best setting for being able to pick out good targets from iron.

If you can max the sens, 0 disc, 4 tone, BP mode. I don't like to lower the sens when it gets overly chatty because when I do that, I can still hear the chattiness, it's just softer. I up the disc to no more than 6 and it quiets down. I like 4 tone, less screen watching and the high tone gives me a thrill. Some areas there is nothing you can do for the interference except leave or use a different unit. Very sensetive, it picks up small quater inch flat flakes of foil and bird shot. Love that 75.

I like 3 and 4h as the higher tones among the iron grunts and mid tone(s) alert me to a possible masked coin. Find a good number of nickels with with those tone settings. HH jim tn
