F75 Upgrade?

in a word .no!..fisher missed a wonderful marketing opportunity
by not pursuing this,..it has been said that a certain number of standard f-75's WERE
up graded to (l.t.d) status for a particular national "relic" hunt, and shortly thereafter
the excellent f-75 (l.t.d) was introduced...just sayin!

To follow up on what J.T. said, it ain't gonna happen, that ship has sailed.

However, I humbly disagree that Fisher missed an opportunity. They were smart not to offer any upgrade to the general public. It would have been a logistical nightmare with everybody sending their units in to be upgraded, just ask Garrett if they liked all those AT Pros coming back to their facility.

Nonetheless, there are a handful of f75's still floating around that look like exactly like the original F75, but have the boost processes and display the LE at startup. That's all I'm gonna say about that....;)

you are correct, but i guess it was wishful thinking on my part because i OWN a "standard" f-75!
it would indeed create a "log jam" so to speak for them, and of course, their plans all along WAS to introduce the f-75 (l.t.d)
a lot got SQUEEZED if you will, however, that IS the "tale of the tape",with "marketing" given full consideration!..just sayin!

To drop another $1200 for changes that they could do to the one I have...for much less? I don't know if the cost to value warrants it.

I'd go with jt, figure the cost and add in a proper profit and set up for a HUGE participation followed by some darn happy customers! Unless there is a major hardware issue to keep it from happening, I can't see why FT sees this as a no go. I believe there are a ton of T2/F75 owners who would happily shell out several hundred dollars to make the upgrade. But it is also very possible they know something I don't...just sayin!
Tom

If they already made the mod on several machines for one of the big digs....then why wont they do it at a profit...look at the money that they could make...just doesn't add up to me. Not good for PR that's for certain.

i'm with you!..tom!..it was my position all along that they could, and should "up grade"
the "standard" but "apparently" they believed there was more dough in re gutting it,and calling it a (l.t.d)
in the final analysis,it's all about "marketing!"..just sayin!

it doesn't in MY view, but that is because i "coinshoot" and the word is that depth is comparable
on both detectors when the coil is "scrubbed" on the ground!..if one is using the detector for THAT application
ONLY in mowed areas like parks,ballfields,..etc...then the performance difference is "negligible!" just sayin!

First..its not just a simple software change. its a different processor, software..and board. May as well get a whole new detector (Hey you can! A LTD!) cost would likely be prohibitive.
Second..........the way it was described to me.......is that they needed to make a distinction between the F75 and F75 LTD for warranty purposes. If you had a whole bunch of F75's upgraded to the LTD.......it might get a bit more confusing. Look at the hubub that names of the origonal F75.......LTD and newer Black LTD have created. Add an "upgraded" F75 to the mix......and its just a bigger mess.
I wouldnt say FT lost any opportunities. They are just displaying good buisness sense.
Another thing that comes to mind is that "upgrades"....in pretty much any form.............. tend to be more troublesome than origonals. I dont blame FT one bit for NOT offering it. I would be just another giant headache to deal with...........................................

While the LTD doesnt have any much of a depth advantage over the LTD when you can "scub" the coil.................it DOES have a distinct audio advantage. "on the Edge" (super deep) targets area lot louder and more defined.............so you'll miss a lot less of them. I can still hear "most" targets with the F75 that I can hear with the LTD once I get the F75's coil tight to the ground..........but the response is a LOT fainter, and much more easily missed. I have recovered a number of great targets by using the LTD that I would have never recovered using the F75......because I would have never heard then in the first place.

The LTD is a bid advantage for ME.............................as a well manicured lawn is a rarity where I hunt. I usually have to deal with lots of overburden in the woods.................or grass in the fields.
The LTD seems to be a bit less chatty....and a bit less susceptible to RFI interference too. All in all............I'd say its WELL worth the difference in price. I still have my origonal F75...........and it goes where I go......................but only as a backup in case my LTD takes a crap. .

understood, but can't help but "wonder" and ,of course it IS all i can do,because i do NOT own a(l.t.d)
is whether or not,a "superior" set of headphones would "cut" that advantage when hunting turf, and "plowed fields with "little
"stubble"!..perhaps,it's again, wishful thinking on my part, because you guys own 'em and know, however.STILL cannot help but wonder
if it would make a difference, and reduce the operating"advantage" of one over the other!..the other "important" issue is
how much dough i,and others have wrapped up in the "standard",and a real a** whoopin' we gotta take to replace it!..of course,in "hindsight"
which is 20-20.if we could have played "marvin the mind reader",would have waited and "grabbed" the (l.t.d)..just sayin!

(h.h.!)

that's kool!..i stand corrected!..thought they was on steroids at first, with "upgraded" circuit cards!
thought i read that "somewhere"

I also bought the original F75 when it first came out. Was I angry when they came out with the new and improved F75, very shortly after. Had they waited 4 or 5 years I would understand, but it came so shortly after I feel I got burned. I cannot afford to buy another one and who the hell is going to buy my original? why would they? I 'm sorry but I feel I got screwed because Fisher decided to put out their lesser model first, expecting most to buy the better model later. Not me. I tried Fisher before, didn't like them, gave them another chance. I'm done with them.

I sent them an email telling them the same thing. Never heard back from them. Apparently they don't care to take care of the people out there who support their company. They will care when their doors have trouble staying open because they get shunned for treating their customers like this. Just a matter of time.:clapping:

If y'all are looking to buy a metal detector from a company that sells product with a money-back guarantee that they won't come out with anything better anytime soon, well, ......FTP-Fisher ain't that company and I hope we never become it!

Not because its Dave J. But he beat me to the punch......had to go shower & shave right before he posted.
If you look at Fisher/Tek, they are constantly releasing new models which are upgrades to their predecessors. Unlike some companies, which I will not name, that come out with new /upgrade models once every several years, First Texas does not follow this line of development/production.
It's not like Fisher intended to screw the F75 owners. I own the T2, wish I had the Omega, but the T2 came out first. First Texas is like Dell Computers, they are constantly releasing newer, improved models. Its not done to hurt the past customer who purchased one of their machines.
And for the record, I wanted to upgrade my White's Silver Eagle to a XLT. White's said OK. The charge for it was exactly the same as if I bought a brand new XLT. Get the point? I didn't go cursing White's, as I understand from a business viewpoint why they have to do it that way. No detector mfg is going to stay in business upgrading older models to current production models.
