F75LTD In the works:yo:

I will be ordering my F75LTD next friday. My son uses a standard F75 and he really does well with it.

I have tried it a few times and was amazed at how sensitive it is and how fast of a recovery time it has. What, if anything can I expect from the LTD model that the standard doesn't have or do?

This will be my primary relic machine, as swinging the etrac all day in a field isn't agreeing so much with my arm.

Any suggestions to shorten the learning curve with this machine? I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks Ya'all.

All I can say is be patient with it and dont give up!!. Dont be afriad to run on factory default its the best way to start the learning curve,to many times I have heard guys get frustraited because they goy out the first time and try to run wide open. You will still find deep targets in factory reset and will enjoy running this hot machine. The only difference I know of between the two 75's is the boost and cache processes that where added to the LTD and SE. The boost is killer in tall grass or areas where u cant get the coil right on or near the ground, and another thing you will notice is you really need to slow your swing down to hear what its telling u.Am sure some other more experienced swingers will chime in.Hope this helps!! hh rick in mi.

In the few times I used my sons F75 I really did like it. I got a solid 12 VDI at 5 inches an couldnt resist it and dug a gold plated bracelet in an old school field. I was pretty much sold on the F75 machine that day...because my other machine was telling me not to dig.

He always does really well coinshooting with it, and he has also found some pretty cool relics with it as well. It is super sensitive...that I do know. And the more I read about it, and it's adjustability...it's really not that difficult of a machine, as long as you run it within your skill level and listen to it. I like the idea of the boost mode...the farm I am hunting now has been around since the 1700's and has tons of metal in the ground. I have been researching this property via historical maps, as well as talking to the current family that lives there and it has CW history that has been documented.

That's my biggest reason for getting this unit, because I know how good it is based on what I have seen from my sons machine, and it is very lighweight and well balanced and I can swing it all day. It'll drive me bananas until it gets here and I get it swinging over that old dirt....so meanwhile I am reading all I can about it, and the more I read the more I think I am making the best choice for a relic hunting machine.

I believe u already got it figured out LittleJohn!!!!!!!!!!! Be sure and try the 5 inch coil it works real well in iron infested enviroments.....hh rick in mi.

It took me 2 years to get comfortable with my LTD. I wish someone would've given me detailed advice when I first started using it. But the best way to learn it is practice and repetition. Here's a few things to get you started:

  • The Boost and Cache modes are fun, but don't be afraid to run the machine in default at first like stated above
  • Try to pay attention to the audio tones, don't solely rely on the VDI numbers to be the deciding factor on to dig or not. If it sounds good, DIG IT!
  • Try to keep the Sens around 87 on average, with the disc around 6 to mazimize depth while eliminating some chatter.
  • The machine is supposed to chatter, it will get noisy, but try to listen through the noise for the different solid tones
  • Dig all the good repeatable signals, but sometimes the deep ones will break up and sound good one way and not so good another. If it has a good high tone every other swing, DIG IT!
  • The small white DD coil is amazing in trash. It can still hit deep targets.
  • Just be patient and take your time learning it, but most of all have fun.

Hope this helps, let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the tips:detecting:

You already have had a boat load of good tips. I had the regular F 75 and then got the LTD shortly after it came out. In the boost mode there might be an inch difference, but as has already been mentioned, the boost mode really excels when hunting over tall, thick grass and for woods hunting. Most often I do run sen of 85 and upwards and under 5 disc, but do lower sen and boost disc up some as the need arises. Although the LTD's vdi is a little bouncy, with a good pin point it does settle down, in my dirt, anyway. Good luck, it is a wonderful old coin and relic hunting machine. HH jim tn

Well...good news and bad news. I am getting a Fisher F75, but it wont be an LTD. The finances just weren't right, so I had to do a reality check and go with what I could keep in my budget at the moment...and it's a used machine, but in like new condition so I am OK with that. I am excited, it's on the way amd I'll be giving it it's maiden voyage this week....if the wife doesn't strangle me first. Looking forward to it!

Congrats Little John! Don't look at it as a used machine, look at it as a machine with experience!

HH to you, buddy!

Thanks...I'll be taking it to the relic fields with me on thursday...hoping for more than a pile of iron and shotgun shells. Plenty of metal there...just a matter of sifting through it for the goodies.

Had a real good day yesterday and took the new F75 on her maiden voyage. It's a sweet machine for sure, I used it a little bit then let a buddy use it for the rest of the day. Found 8 civil war bullets between me and my son, and plan to go back again to the same area and go in all metal and grid the area we were at. We were getting funky signals because of the ground mineralization but still managed to git r done. Now that we know how the detectors are reacting to the soil we know which signals we can focus on. Cant wait to get back out there.
