F75ltd2 DST depth ?

This is what I air tested on my machine before upgrade on the right, and the other 2 columns are after the upgrade. One of the things I noticed was swing speed does not have as much effect on depth after upgrade.

According to NASA-Tom's extensive testing, about 60% of the distance you can hold the coil above ground (air gap) while in BP mode is gone.

Couldn't edit for some reason. I should have said the above doesn't apply to All Metal.
 
I can't tell there was much difference in depth, but because the DST version now runs so quiet, those deeper whispers can now be heard easier. HH jim tn
 
I'm still digging crushed cans at 16 inches lol. I noticed after 10 inches the signals get iffy. VDI is much better after upgrade. I have not really run with the DST off which is still about 20% I suspect. Large iron, tin lids, and such that are over 12 inches I have no issue picking up. I can ID my Buddy's T2 and Etrac deep targets for him and usually call a good target. DP tone can help in some hunts while 3H tone does better some days. I like opening it up or running BP and I can usually dig 12 inches or a little deeper on targets. Before I could easily dig 16 inches. I have a small glass jar off Penny's with a tin lid buried at exactly 16 inches in the yard. I still am able to pick them up. I'm happy.

Yep - I've hit quarters at 16 on the beach!!!! Granted there was zero trash in the area and the VDI wasn't dead on, but it still find the quarters from an area that is pounded by locals and vacationers.

Disc mode seems to be about the same depth but numbers are better and machine runs alot quiter. The all metal audio isnt nearly as good as it was before the upgrade,It was noisier but in all metal you could hear a .58 cal bullet at 12 inches but with the upgrade although the machine runs quieter i cant get an audio response on a .58 cal at 12".
 
Also a good set of head phones will make the difference. I have not dug anything deep lately. Not sure why. But I did set sensitivity on zero to see if I could find coins, and it did. Who would have thought.
 
I really wish i'd left my f75 ltd like it was. In all metal BP,the audio is simply bad. I was in disc,bp yesterday and got an iffy signal so i switched over to all metal and the audio was almost non existent but the numbers actually pretty steady 50-55 which is usually a minie ball so i dug and it was a minie ball at around 7 1/2 inches. I put it back in the hole uncovered and the audio in all metal was still nearly non existent. Sucks because before the upgrade all metal bp was my favorite way to detect. Had i been in all metal i wouldve never heard that minie ball. Around power lines and fences its definitely an upgrade but the loss of depth simply sucks.

This is my experience as well. Seems like the AM mode got sacrificed for a smoother disc mode. If you could get the all metal mode from a non DST model and the disc mode from a DST model together in one machine it would of be awesome.
 
After a year of part time (F75 is my backup) I find the machine gives depth reading of about double the actual depth. It will say 11" and it will be 5-7 inches. The VDI's are not at all reliable. Tones are good but numbers are jittery and unless exactly over the center of the target they are way off. I buried a clad quarter, dime and memorial penny in the yard, 4" 6" and 8" measured with the pro pointer. Sandy soil, no electrical wires near, no other metal near and with the stock 11" coil it will not pick up the 8" quarter in 'de', no disc and sense at 60. It will get the quarter at 6" , good tone and jumpy numbers but the depth says 11".
 
Going out today with the f75ltd2 with the NEL BIg coil. Hope I will be able to report some extreme depth finds.
 
Here is some of the finds. 2 BUTTONS, 1 horse ring, part of a pocket watch(maybe) and a Sash buckle. Found all but the pocket watch piece next to where a whore house was in the 1800s. It is a block from where the paddle wheelers docked here in the 1800s. Going back today to try again. Was just getting the hang of the coil when I ran out of steam. Believe it our not I have been able to pinpoint fairly good. I just dig a egg shaped hole and it is normally in there. or below it.
