...thanks to the Explorer II!
The spot we call The Barber House, hunted for years, pounded by the best..."hunted out". Well, we know how THAT goes.
Took the Explorer II there today for about an hour and a half. The place is an iron pit. I had it in IM -16, Ferrous, and running sensitivity at manual 24, sometimes 22. It was an FBS symphony of sounds, but I am learning that if you want to pick the goodies out of an iron-loaded site the only way to do it is to listen to the junk too. I was swapping between Digital and Smartfind modes to compare.
I took a few pics, which may be of interest to newbies or those not familiar with the Explorer II...to see what the screen looks like in Digital and Smartfind.
This was a sweet sounding signal and the numbers don't lie...I knew it was silver as I dug it. It appears to be some sort of Canadian centennial dime...the reverse says 1867 to 1967. Definitely silver though...not sure when they stopped using it.
I dug a couple of wheaties and they were similar, though a little higher on the Ferrous end. I then got this "holy grail" of a signal and another very subtle pinpoint and I was sure it was silver.
Here's the Merc in the Smartfind mode, using the "Coins" search pattern. Little bitty box in the upper right corner = dig, baby!
Here's the stuff I dug that was worth looking at. The wheaties are very rough, as are all the coppers we find around here. The one is a 1921 and the other is a 1950-something .
I hope everybody else had a great day. Tomorrow I'm hitting the beach for the morning low tide.
