Farm hunt 12-18-12

Hit the same farm I hunted last week where I got the large cent, well I got another one today and it is an error coin!!!!!! there were only 218,025 minted , the error is the last 1 is over an 0. Sort of difficult to see on here but with the correct lighting it is easy to see it. It was my first dig and it was an iffy signal but still gave me a good enough reading to want to dig it. It also was surrounded by nails. The second dig was a toasted Merc, I think it was in a fire, what do you guys think? Again this coin was surrounded by nails. I had 2 nails on either side of the merc, but the CTX still was able to point out the good silver coin with all that mess. I love the CTX 3030!!!!!! Third coin dug was a wheat and fourth a lincoln. Then it was time to go home. was there about an hour.HH Rocco

thats a good spot your hunting. 1811 damn thats old, been in the ground along time i bet, id guess that merc was in a fire also by the looks of it, nice finds, HH

Congrats! Yes, the merc shows all the signs of being in a fire. The 1811 Classic head is really cool! that series is among the hardest to find. Farm fields are great but fertilizer is BAD.

Nice finds Rocco. That CTX3030 is sizzling. Is tomorrow still on? Dave

Thanks guys!!!

Yeah tomorrow is still a go!!!!! Can't wait!! I only need one more silver coin to hit 50 for the year. Looking to do it tomorrow!

OK. My silver from there is a 1906 Barber quarter, a few Mercs, 1788 Half Real, Seated Dime. Hope there's more, but coins are far apart.

Gotta love those large cents man! Way to go. Wish I had more of those things out west.

Very nice Classic Head LC.
Looks like she wasn't worn too bad before being lost.
That series of LC's is tough to get in good condition; even without being in the ground.
