Faulty SEF coil ???

a.c.t.i.v.8

New member
How can you tell if one is faulty ..... My mate has one, and allthough he has found stuff with it, he still is unsure if it is faulty. Can a blown SEF coil still work ???

There are a few of us over here in the U.K. thinking of getting them for the V3, as we see you people have them attached to yours and we have this one we can try off this guy, but if it is faulty and it may blow the V3, then you can understand our reservations !

If your Mate is finding things with it, it works and should not harm the V3. You will need at least two to compare to see how good it is in your ground because your ground is much different than ours. Coils of all makes will vary to some degree and some, a lot.

Thanks Larry. Yes understand the ground situation being different...

What detector is your mate presently using it on?

DON'T get an SEF coil for your SPECTRA IF IT IS NOT OFFICIALLY DESIGNATED AS SUITABLE BY SEF MAKERS

Save your money, and by a Whites Spectra SHOOTER. Yes...the little SHOOTER (22.5 caliber) has
the BIGGEST bang per buck

I guarantee it will kick RS

It is king in stubble......remember that well, for if there are little HAMMIES amongst those rape stalks...it will sniff then out like a ROTTWEILER

Sorry but all I want to know is - How can you tell if the coil is faulty ???

Which SEF do you have? If it is supposed to be v nulled for the V I would expect it to pass the Whites coil test. It should be able to take RX 15 in the air without overloading. It should also be able to take the boost in the air. If it is not one of the SEF that claim to be V nulled I don't know. I guess in that case I have to agree with Larry. Rob

No Rob it is not "V" nulled, but I am not going to be using TX boost with it. As Larry says "If your Mate is finding things with it, it works and should not harm the V3" then I will take the plunge and put it on and fingers crossed !!!!

My guess is you will be fine with the SEF. I use an older 10X12 that I had with my DFX and it might not be perfect, but I too have found some nice finds with it. Rob can back me up on that....

Thanks Larry. Oh by the way, I have your site as one of my main sites. It is a pleasure to visit, well done....

Alas, I am always second best to Larry. That's why he lets me hunt with him, I make him look good. Yes I have seen him make nice finds with the 10x12 SEF. Rob
