Well after a lot of time and research I am ordering a safari. Pretty excited. We hunt a lot of deeper woods locations that have been in use for the last 5000 years and have cleaned all the easy stuff out of them. Lots of copper artifacts from the old copper culture complex up to newer stuff and everything in between.
Oldest coin from someone else in this area was a silver reale coin, 1700's. My oldest American coin was an 1852 large cent. My brother has pulled 50-60 old silver out of this site in 2 seasons.
This area is huge and the best part is everyone else who has tried hunting it sticks to the main section of park area that has been pounded to death for 35 years. When we first hit the woods in a 3 mile ovalish shape around this area it was like a virgin site. Huge numbers of large silver, silver dimes, indian heads, tokens, etc.
I hunted this site primarily with an AT PRO. It found some nice stuff but I really dont like the one frequency thing. Combine that with the build quality and I was not impressed overall.
So I set out to find a multi-frequency machine that is built solid. My choices came down to a CZ3D and the Safari. I had some people trying to push me onto the Etrac but I didnt have that kind of money to spend and from what I read on this forum, the safari is just as good.
The CZ3D i was interested in was supposedly calibrated by Tom and supposedly had all the paperwork and pictures, but alas, they were not to be found when requested. I got a killer deal on the safari and I pulled the trigger.
I have a feeling the Safari is going to make this site like new yet again. I am pretty excited.
