Went detecting Saturday with three other guys on an invite from Dancin' Dave. We were in a far away spot deep in the woods. I remember the walk on the trail felt like forever and wondered how these guys even found this place lol. As we approached our destination I thought, how can there be anything here? It was just woods and steep hills. So, we all started detecting going up and down the wooded hills and I heard Dave yell "merc!" I thought cool, there is hope!. Soon after another guy yells "wheatie!" and another yelled "merc!" . in the meantime another guy found a buffalo nickel.
Now I am thinking I am way behind and need to catch up. Soon after that I managed a wheatie. Shortly after that I got a merc and was on the board. I found a silver washington and another merc before it became very quiet for all of us.We were debating about moving on when I got a shallow 12-43 signal on my ETrac. I figured a penny or shotgun shell. As it popped out of the ground I saw a small dark disc. I moved some dirt and saw the wreath. I yelled to Dave, "I got an old one!" Figured it to be a Barber. I will mention at this point that I was still in search of an 1800's silver coin and mentioned it to the guys earlier. So I was hoping for the Barber to be 1800's when I flipped it over. I saw the front of the coin but it was dark, both in the woods and the coin itself. I looked carefully and then I saw it! The seated liberty! I yelled " Seated!! I got seated!" The other gentleman heard me and was farther away and I heard him yell " what did he get ?" Dave yelled "seated!" . I ran up to them and Dave verified it was an1875 cc. I am still on cloud 9. Thanks to Dancin' Dave and the guys!
