A chance to hunt a four generation farm yesterday that my brother and I have been working on for about six months. It started out at daylight and where we thought was one of the original house site based on information given to us by a great, great grand son. 🙄We were later told where the actual site was and the hunt was on!! After a few hours I managed 15 wheats, two silvers and a 1877 Grant presidential token. I initially thought the token was a large cent but couldn’t be sure because it was soooo crusty. My brother left there with twenty wheats, five war nickels. We both found tons of old iron such as hoes horse bits ect. We even found a couple of spoons. Plenty more to come as we’ve learned that there is an original house site on the far side of the farm that dates to early 1800.
Hope you enjoy

It's nice when you get on the right spot. a nice array of finds there. I especially like the two-ring horse tack piece. The five war nickels from one site is almost unheard of. Nice hunting.

Nice finds! You guys have a great spot to hunt!

Nice finds… that site gave up a lot of wheats along with the other finds.
That hoe is an old one… looks to be one piece… I have found some like that and newer ones that had rivets the attached the blade to the other part.
That horse bit has a name too, but I can’t recall it as of now… I found one a few years ago just like it.
I think it is called a “watering bit”.

I hear ya miserman. I was excited to find that in a single piece. In the past I had only found portions of it. Either the rings or the center links but never a whole one. Crazy thing about the war nickels.... two were in a single plug. ;)

Thanks fwcrawford. I suspect that there are plenty more of this stuff to be found as there are several old barns as well as share cropper shacks on the farm that we haven't even touched.
