I had about an hour after work today and I stumbled upon what looks like an old obscure ball diamond. After digging 5 or 6 aluminum can scraps I had a good signal from one direction and a lower signal from the other direction.
It was deep so what the heck. I got down to about 8 inches or so and located a piece of small pistol brass.
I ran the pinpointer in the hole once more and got another hit. I dug a little more and
out flops SILVER! Finally!!
Nothing really special, but I'll never forget it and I'm hooked!
Thanks for looking and thanks to all who have given me tips on getting to know this machine. I hope this find is the first of many!

I've been holding off for my dad to come and visit so I can hopefully put him on some silver too. He's finally coming up this weekend and the weather looks like it will cooperate perfectly. I've only been back there once and I basically concentrated on the same area that I had already covered and I found a 1918 wheat cent, so I know there are some oldies in there. Hopefully I'll have some more good finds to post in the next week or so.
In a month or so he's taking me to a spot supposedly "haunted" where there were gold coins recovered way back when.
The locals won't even go near it.
