Finding a cache of Silver Roman coins live on film

Dan Stevenson found this fantastic hoard of around 180 Silver Roman coins.
Here in the UK we have to follow a law called the treasure act, if something is found the local archaeologists are called to record and remove the find.

That was very cool! Thanks for posting it Gary. The finder did the right thing, followed the laws and helped the image of our hobby.

So under the UK Treasure Act, who has claim to this treasure?

50 / 50 between the finder and the land owner

That is a very fair split.

I understand having to call the archaeologists when finding a hoard while metal detecting but what if the farmer was just tilling the soil and maybe digging out a stump and found the hoard. Does he have to call the archaeologists?
