I went out early this morning to a local playground, searched it all under where the kids would be playing, but did better closer to the outside of the swing sets and climbing areas. I actually ended up with more keepable items than junk. No gold but did get a top part of a ring that is marked "India" silver.

Those garrett machines are great units to learn on...i started out with a gta 1000... i dont use it much anymore but really enjoyed using it ,especially in parks...congrats.

What are you using now?

for park hunting i use an old whites 5900..it has an old analog meter on it which prefer to a digital meter and gets better depth in my opinion, however my old garret use to get me my fair share of silver... for farm fields i have a minelab sov gt..and for water hunting i use minelab excal... i also have an old fisher unit that i haven't quite mastered yet...

Have you tried the soverign in the parks. I used the whites 6000di and then a cz-5 and I couldn't what I had missed when I got the sovereign

Nice finds. Not sure what size coil your using but if you have a small coil(and aren't already using it) or can get one you will be able to hunt right next to the legs of the swing set and all the other play ground equipment.

There is a school with one of those Gravel Tot Lots that I have hit on more than one occasion. My finds in that lot are pathetic. However I have had very good luck in other areas of the playground. Just the Graveled area fails to produce for me. Good finds and Keep on Swinging.
