Found my first 2 cent piece today. It was on my wish list and when I found it I could just barely make out the shield. Thought it may be 2 cents but it looked corroded and thought I would never see any good detail. When I got home the dirt had dried out and it just flaked off. Although it has a pitana and I think I scratched it I just had to post. The numbers were 12/40. I found the Canadian half cent token a couple weeks ago and it was a mystery coin until I did an online search. Another first for me and although not very valuable I don't think many are found. I believe they were only minted for 3 years. Found the V nickel a couple weeks ago also and although not a great find was interesting as I was in an area with no signals at all. I was just swinging the coil on a hill and going back to the cellar hole when I got a signal. Numbers were bouncing around but hey, it was repeatable so I dug. Found the purse. Well, wondering if there was anything in the purse I of course rescanned the hole with visions of a cache of coins. It wasn't to be. Just the V nickel but I consider one old coin a nice find and it made my day.

What a great day of hunting. Congrats! Sweet 2 cent coin, great detail.

Very nice finds. Thanks for the story and the great pictures. I'd really like to swing my coil over a 2-center as well!!!!

That is one sweet 2 center!!

Great looking coins Bruce - the Two Cent is in excellent condition !
And I agree - if you out hunting for the day and only find one nice old coin - you had a good day !

Very cool Bruce, I think the cache of coins would have ran throgh my mind as well. It's cool you posted the purse with the find.

That 1864 is a great looking coin! Can you believe it was in circulation during the Civil War? Oh the history.
