First buffalo (I think) with the SE

At least I can't remember any others so far.

Went back for about an hour to the place I found the Seated last night. Wasn't finding diddly but got a pretty strong nickel signal on the surface. Dug a 1920 buffalo at about 1" down! Didn't even have to get out the Lesche, just popped it out with my fishing rod tip probe.

Not worth posting a picture of.

While I really like buffaloes and kind of miss it, even with the bad condition they come out of the ground, but this made me realize how few of them I'm digging with the SE compared to the Sov. I'm getting more of everything else so the tradeoff is WELL worth it but it would be nice to be finding them (and V's (which I have only one of so far (with the Sov))).

Most every one that I have found is garbage. But neat to find and a good indication that there maybe silver lurking around.GR

Yeah, silver should be lurking around but, except for dimes, they seem to be elusive. In 3 years of detecting, I've now found, in silver, 2 halves, 3 quarters, and at least 29 dimes. I see the halves as flukes but the ratio of quarters to dimes is way off compared to what I see in my change currently. One of these days I'll get the mintages plugged in so I can calculate the ratio between coins of any given date range. (I already have Mercs and Rosies entered.) But I suspect that most of the places I hunt have cherrypicked of silver quarters.

hi - keep in mind that dimes are much easier to drop than quarters and a quarter on the ground is easier to spot and pick up than a dime. Also a quarter was a fair amount of money back then. I'm always amazed that someone could lose a half or silver dollar and that no one would see it and pick it up. Plus as you said a lot of these sites have probably been stripped years ago of any big silver as those crappy old detectors were probably only good at finding this stuff......shame really can you imagine what these sites could be like!
