Stopped off for an hour after work to try out the new coil that arrived this morning. This was the first coin dug. (Though pulled a rectangular pulltab and a regular pulltab first.)

Maybe more at some point after I reboot the computer.

thats a good start for a new coil nothing like finding big silver to put a smile on your face . how deep was it, have you hit this site before.

Though I suppose I could take a picture of the bottom of my trash can. :)

2nd was one of the wheaties, I think.

Rich, you are in some awsome area, finding the good coins all the time.

Here in Columbia, SC I think I am the penny king

Got out of the jeep with storm clouds brewing not far west of me. Fired it up. I'd also picked up some SunRay Pro Golds to see if it helped my detecting as well and was trying those out too. Should probably have used my old headphones so I could have gotten a more direct comparison since this coil, as any coil, is different. Started scanning over the same spot I often start at in that park since it's where I found my first dateable large cent. I've cleaned that up a bunch since, so here's a post of what it looks like now.

And I know pretty much what that small piece of ground is like. It did seem like I was hearing more targets but it's a pretty busy piece of land. A lot of junk in that particular spot. Then I headed over a short distance away to the main corner entrance to the park and started working my way down about six feet parallel to the path. Got a nice sweet signal that I thought I hoped was going to be a silver quarter going by everything, including the depth (was reading about half way down). Ended up being a hair shallower than expected. Maybe 5.5" give or take. I was quite pleasantly surprised when I saw this staring at me out of the hole.

Pretty cool when your hope turns out to be something nicer. Lifted it out and held it near the new coil for a pic.

Started scanning that immediate area without finding anything more than some bits of trash so started working my way back down. Not much further away picked up a decent deep cent/dime signal. Right after I'd popped out a damaged '37 wheat, an older couple stopped to ask how I was doing and chat. Showed them the Walker and they got big smiles on their faces.

After a bit, turned around and started working back up next to the previous scan. Started hitting more hot rocks from the gravel lining the path. About halfway up--getting near where I'd found the Walker--I got a deeper signal bouncing all over the lower part of the screen. Almost walked away but dug it. '48 Jefferson down a good ways.

Started to get a few rain drops at that point and I didn't have the rain cover on so I switched over to semi-auto at 32 and started working my way back to the jeep. Popped up an oblong relic that I have no idea what it is but for some reason I wonder if it's an old gun part (though probably not). Rain really started to pick up then so I started walkling back to the car but stopped to dig the round thing. Ended up with the '37 Walker, '48 Jefferson, '37, 41, and '56-D wheats, a bit of clad and the two doodads,

Anyone know what these things are?

I don't have any real assessment on the Pro coil at this point yet. Nothing stood out to me but much of that was probably the combination with the new headphones. I'll have to try some tests over the same targets. Didn't seem like I could run the sens. any hotter but that might have been the storm coming in. (I've seen it affect it like that before.)

Aside: One of the local music stores has a decent turnaround of used guitars. My son has been playing mine a lot when he comes over--he has a wonderful ear (I'm jealous and proud :) )--so I told him I'd buy him one for his birthday that's coming up since he's exhibiting the interest and drive and that we'd stop by the music store to check what they had in until he found one he liked. Should have figured he'd find one he liked (and I could afford) on the first trip.

(This could probably use some more editing but I want to drop the Walker off in the safety deposit box before work and need to get moving.)

I'm happy to find what I've been finding, particularly the 2 Walkers and the old copper. I'm still hoping for a Barber sometime soon and, eventually down the road, a Seated. Every area seems to have a certain kind of specialty. I'm just trying to get as many of the unique coins before I move away from here in about 5 years. :detecting:
