First Day with the E -Trac

Went back to an old homeplace that I had worked completely over with my AT Pro and found a 1936 Wheatie within my first ten minutes of swinging. This boosted my confidence. I like the way this rig whistles when on target. I didn't get to hunt but about 30 minutes at the place and had to go back to work.
I did some studying in my Andy Sabisch book and I took his advice and did some tweaking to my the settings in the factory coin pattern. I set sensitivity to Auto +3. I turned Recovery Deep on, as suggested by him for old coins. I don't know how to adjust the discrimination pattern yet, but the factory discrimination should let silver dimes and quarters and wheat pennies through. I have read that the factory coin patteren needs to be opened up, as it may be discriminating good coins.
Learning this rig is going to be fun, like Nebtrac and the rest of you guys said. I'm going to get some digging time in today and tomorrow and I'm feeling real good about finding some silver.
I have gained alot of good info here in the forum. I sorta feel like I'm a member of an exclusive club.....kinda neat for a plain old country boy like me, Good luck to all of you this weekend!!!

good luck Kevin, though with the etrac you don't need it. You just need a good spot to hunt. you'll be bringing the silver home soon. Craig

I feel EXACTLY the same way Kevin. This is the "place" to be if you're gonna learn this machine.

You are gonna' have SO much fun learning to speak E-Trac. Remember your Quick Mask button, when you are checking out a signal that might be partially obscured by an overly discriminating pattern. It's just the push of a button and sometimes it will clear that signal up for you and let you know if the target is ferrous. Most of all Have Fun!
