First E Trac gold?

Well, I went out today (took a day of leave to relax) and hunted for a few hours at the same place I found the silver merc earlier this week. I found clad, tabs and slaw. I was about to call it a day and decided to swing around a big old oak tree. I had a broken signal at 12-02, and as I dug, I found a small gold necklace link. I rescanned the area and found the rest, a chain necklace about 8-9 inches long. The only problem I have is that it is really light, and I don't know if it is real gold or platinum. I plan to take it when I can to get it checked out...has anybody ever had gold/platinum come in at 12-02?

Absolutely. I've had plenty of gold come in at 12-02. I hope for you that it is. First gold on your detector is always a great feeling. From what I have learned on my detectors, its always the first piece thats hardest to find, after that they keep coming. I think its a "confidence thing." Good for you for digging up a 12-02, I know plenty of people who don't. Please let us know if it does end up being gold. HH -Marc

I have found a few pieces of Gold that came in at 12-02 both were small items. The bigger gold items had higher fe numbers. digid

Nice info here and congrats on your chain!

I have just been looking for silver coins and rings and have found a ton of silver rings. So many that I now realize I must be walking over gold rings. Where do gold rings usually hit? I haven't been digging the pull tab range and think that is where they are.

Sorry for not posting a pic earlier. Not the greatest pic (cell phone). I plan to get it checked out this weekend to see if it is the real Mccoy.

I can't tell by your pic, is there a clasp on that chain? Usually the clasp is where you will see the stamp of what it is. Keep us updated -Marc

Nice find. If it is gold it will be marked 10k-14k -18k no mark not gold unless you did not find the part that is marked. It should be marked on the clasps.
