First few hours with the T2 se dst

2 Much Trash

Well-known member
Sens 99, disc 10, alternating between bp and 2a. Machine runs quiet as a church mouse. Did get a little ground chatter in some spots but not enough to have to reduce the sens.
Switching to 2a in those spots took care of that. I was using the stock coil. This is an awesome machine.

Nice finds. I was thinking about having my t2 upgraded.

Some good information that you have provided, did you notice any additional depth after the upgrade especially on small finds,i am still try to ustify the upgrade but i still cannot see that i will gain anything on my pasture and farmland permissions in the UK,i dont have hardly any problems with EMI so the shielding aspect is not a main reason for a possible upgrade.

I guess and i of course could be wrong but if you hunt in say a park enviroment in a built up area with alot of EMI issues then the upgrade would be a very wise move, but if you are miles away from urban life and only have the odd overhead powerline then i rarely have problems with EMI.

The clock is counting down to make a decision i think its sometime in March but at the moment the folks who have had the upgrade over here as yet are still noit shouting from the roof tops how good the upgrade is,i am thinking that i would have seen alot more feedback on the upgrade that what i have seen.

Good to see you are liking the new machine.

Great looking stuff Bill. Glad to see you crossed over! :beers:

Thanks Mega,
I still have my non upgraded t2 se. I didn't send it in for the upgrade because I love it the way it is and was a little concerned about the outcome. Same as you, I hadn't heard anyone shouting from the roof tops either. I been using my regular T2 se for about 2 years now. In those 2 years I've purchased 3 other different detectors as backup/ companion detectors . All excellent machines I may ad. But in each case I found all I needed to do was to pull in the reins on the t2 (if you will, dumb it down just a bit) and have the same performance as the new and exciting detector I just bought. So I finally decided to just get another t2 and forget it. Just so happens I made this decision after the new upgrade T2 was what was available. It is so quiet it reminds me of my old G2 but with a little more punch. Depth wise it's a little early for me to comment. But in my indoor air test because of being able to crank it up without the chatter it is deeper. In the field small targets such as 22 shells and modern day buckshot, no difference than my standard t2 se. Separation, seems the same but I didn't use the new FA mode. The biggest advantage with DST is being able to hunt with this powerful unit, without EMI issues. I feel confident my finds will increase. I've got 2 T2's now, I think I'm good to go.
In my personal opinion, and that's just what it is,, If you're not dealing with a lot of emi issues, don't try to fix what ain't broke. Stick with what you've got. I would have. From what I've seen on your posts, it ain't broke. If at some point you get a wild hair and just gotta have a new machine, and I know talk is cheap, get a new T2 with DST.

I love my new T2 with DST seems quieter than my last T2 and very easy to use Teknetics T2 very fast seperation also!
