I ----FINALLY--- made it out for a short two hour hunt today (My first hunt for 2012 was January 11th). I was trying a well hunted park that is close to my home, so I didn't have high hopes of finding anything great. The first surprise for the 2013 season was ice! Not diamonds, but frozen ground!
I was quite surprised to find a decent layer of frost still hanging on in the grassy areas I had planned to detect, so I had to move around a bit.
I managed to pick up 8 or 9 Wheaties from the late 30's to late 40's, about 75 cents worth of clad and one 1944 silver Washington. Not a great hunt, but after 5 months without detecting I'll take what I can get.
