First Large Cent

Hello All, went out today to do a little fishing, but I also took x-70 with me just in case the fish were not biting, and they weren't, i ,packed My rods and tackle away and started dirt fishing with the 70 ,and after swinging for about an hour and 25 minutes and only finding afew clad coins decided to call it a day, while detecting my way back to my truck got a nice strong signal that bounced between 42 and 44 at 4 in.deep so i got out my probe and gently started poking the ground, located the target got out my soil knife cut a neat little plug ,popped it out and imagine my surprise to see this coin shaped green disk that was lager then a quarter, rubbed some mud away and could clearly see (one cent) in center of the coin .Can't make out the date ,but its 18??
Anyway thought I'd share with yous good folks. Using X-Terra 70 with the 6in 18.75 MHz ,all metal GB set at16

Congrats on the Large Cent. I just found my 1st Large Cent a month ago 1803 (Still soaking in Olive Oil), Read the same 42-44 about 5" down Petty rough shape thou. But boy I still made my day!

Since I started hunting about 37 years ago, that particular coin has been on my "things to do" list. And it's still there. This part of the Country wasn't settled until the mid-late 1850's. So they are tough to find. But I'll find one, some day! Congrats on finding this one and I hope you find many more. HH Randy
