First post in a while

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I posted anything here. I haven't been getting out that much, about 7 or 8 times this year has been it, but I still lurk here once a month or so. It's always great to see the stuff everyone's digging up. . .

Anyway, I got out two of the last three weekends and managed to scrounge a little silver and a few civil war bullets out of the ground.

First is the silver - all dimes, but I'm not complaining. . .7 silvers in 2 trips is pretty decent for me. I got 6 of them this past Saturday, and one (the 1942 merc) two weeks ago.

The civil war bullets all came on the hunt two weeks ago as well. The pinfire bullet is a first for me, and it was really cool to dig one up. I've been wanting one for a while, and this one looks really nice. There's a G on the bottom of the brass - not sure what that means, maybe one of you relic experts can help me out. . .

The silver ingot was from the last time I got out before the trip two weeks ago. I can't even remember when that was anymore, except that it was before summer. . .I just thought I'd include it, because I never found anything like it before.

I left all the wheaties and the couple of buffaloes and the one little indian head that I dug out of the pics, as well as a really ugly 2-cent piece that I'm gonna try to clean up and post later.

These things pale next to the stuff from Bob's trip up north, but I thought I'd post 'em anyway. I'm still waiting to see Golddigger's pictures from the hunt. . .

Hopefully, I'll keep getting out here and have a little more post soon. . .

Good hunting,

Mark (MO)

that looks reall great mark! that pinfire is a first for me..did'nt know they made them ..i have found pinfire shotgun shells...hh

Looks like you have done quite well even though you haven't gotten out much. I still remember hunting with you...Golddigger...and Mike that day. That was the most fun I remember having in a very long time. Heck... my girlfriend and her boy found some stuff that day too. I can't hardly pay her boy to detect with me anymore..he has sports and other things on his mind now. Hope you get to hunt more often before the weather gets bad. Keep in touch.

Thanks man. Didn't you find a half-dime that day? 1841 maybe? If I remember right, that was your first half-dime. . .that makes a great day all by itself, although hanging out with some nice folks makes it even better!

called me a bad name:clapping:
I remember digging it up...then walking over to him so he could tell me what it was. It was so tiny and I'd not seen one before....anyway I plopped it in his hand and he said "that's a half dime ...you lucky *&*%#$*". Heck after you and Mike left.....Jim and I hunted until near dark looking for more. My girlfriend wasn't real happy about that fact...but it was sure fun:crylol:

Thanks man. I'll call you soon. . .if for no other reason than I lost the plastic bolt that holds my coil on my lower rod. . .I have no idea who to talk to about getting a new one, but I'm sure you do, if you're not the guy yourself. I hunted this weekend with a twig stuck in there to hold it in place. . . :twodetecting:

Thanks for the comments guys. Hopefully, I'll have more stuff to post in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I'll visit here for motivation. . .

Jim - I'm heading down your way the weekend of Nov 8th. I'll give you a call and maybe we can hunt together for a day or two. Guv already got in touch with me about the bolt thingy, so I won't embarrass you by having a twig sticking out of my coil. I should've taken a picture of that and posted it as well! It's pretty funny looking, for sure, but I guess it worked OK.

Good hunting,

Mark
