Went out for a short hunt this afternoon, wanted to try out my new 10X12 SEF I just got. I made the mistake of not taking headphones, which I normally do and its really tough hearing all but the loudest of signals through the crunching of leaves in the woods. Got a good repeatable signal, locked on right about where a zinc penny would be, when I dug it out of the roots I couldnt believe this little guy came out. smallest silver coin Ive ever found. Ive not been able to find out what it is yet so if anyone knows please let me know. It kinda looks like a spanish milled coin but the letters dont match on the pics Ive seen.
It might be my oldest coin, not sure because a few years ago I found a much larger coin similiar to this one in design that is pretty worn but part of the date is visible and its 17??
this one is in much better shape and I will be going back with a smaller coil as the 10X12 was nulling alot but did hold a steady threshold and gave clean crisp signals. also found my share of shotgun shells
