The weather in SE WI has improve, so I got a chance to try my new :minelab: CTX3030 that has been collecting dust since I got it January 25, 2013. I only went in my yard, with no big expectations, but I needed the experience with the new detector. I am very happy with the CTX3030 and I am looking forward to using at some better sites I have lined up. I also wanted some more practice making a video, editing, and uploading. I made a couple of first today. First coin of the season, and first coin with the CTX3030, and was slightly disappointed it was not silver, maybe next time.

I just sold my AT Pro and purchased a CTX 3030. This thing is so different from what I am used to.

I going over the forum to see if there are any questions that have been answered before I ask any new ones. I am sure you all have already addressed allot of the topics / issues and concerns you all have.

The best advice I can share on the CTX and I have had it since day is learn the machine take the time, try different settings really learn what she is telling you. The next big thing is slow way way down and explore those peeps give the CTX a chance to lock in esp in trashy or mineralized areas. A good way to see if you swing as slow as you think mount a camera like a go pro or JVC Axxion to a hat headphones or head strap and recoed a whole hunt. I learned not only that I swing too fast but the ground I thought I had coverded well I missed more then I thought. I can tell you no joke my silver has tripled and I found many firsts, I live in area that is mostly rural so really old silvers are hard to come by. Years of hunting the Se pro and the AT pro when it came out produced a few indains and buffs and handful of silvers. With the CTX I have now found my first SLQ my first V nickel. My first and other barbers and my first and many more silver washingtons. I found many rings on land and in lakes way more on land then I did with anyother machine. Just wanted to share some thoughts congrats on joining the CTX family any thing I can do to help shoot me a message. HH
 
The real home run with the CTX is to NOT discriminate. I hunt it wide open. I used to hunt with discrim. I dumped it and went from 29 silvers from aug to oct. I ended up with 75 last year and have 18 so far this year.

Go SLOW. ABOUT 4 seconds one way. You will cover the ground and pick up the tiny blips. I just found a barber on edge and a seated half dime doing the slow and low. This thing is a site killer.
 
I second the little or no discrimination...I enjoy hearing all that is underfoot.
 
Same here I too hunt open screen and SLOW SLOW SLOW is key.
