fisher 10.5 inch coil question

hello, this sounds like a dumb question but i am wondering is the target center under the double ears where the coil is mounted or is the target center in the open area of the coil.
Thanks

Not a dumb question. I have found with my 10.5, the target center is right about the 'double ears'. when I 'X' the target. It also seems to be right there or slightly above when I use the pin point button.

Best way to check is bury a quarter about 4-5 inches deep. Should sound off nice and loud and you can get an idea exactly where it pin points using both methods ( X'ing via sweeping and by using the pin point button).

Have seen some variance but due to the configuration versus a stock 8 seems to be dead center side to side but about an inch or so high from dead center and pinpoints well for a larger coil...Simply take your unit out in the back yard and ground balance, lay a piece of carboard down drop a quarter down and raise about 5-6 inches to simulate depth and you should get the exact spot for when in field....
