Fisher F11 power switch defect

Hi guys, I own a Fisher F11 and have had it for about 2 1/2 years now. It's really an awesome detector and has surprised me with it's performance for such a basic detector. I originally bought it for my wife to use but you know how that usually goes. I ended up using it myself as it's a fun detector. Problem is the detector started giving my problems first not turning off. Then it wouldn't turn on either without removing and then replacing the battery. Now it won't do anything at all! I'm really bummed because I have to send it in to Fisher. My questions are: 1) Has anyone else experienced this problem? 2) How is Fisher's service and turn around time generally speaking? Thanks for your responses. HH George

Fisher will treat you right and they have super fast turn around time once they receive it. Fishers customer service in my book is excellent some may say other wise. But in my dealings with them they are the best I've ever dealt with.

I've had nothing but out standing service from 1st Texas( Fisher) they've went above and beyond what I expected. I sent my F5 in a few years ago for a problem, they not only fixed my problem but replaced my screen cover which was scratched and replaced my foam hand grips all at N/C. I did have to paid for shipping to them but that's it. My F5 had a factory defect but it was out of warranty so actually they didn't have to cover it.

Thanks for the quick responses. I feel a bit more confident sending it in now. It has 2.5 yrs left on the warranty. I'll get it done soon so I can get some detecting in with it before this season is over!

Don't know if this adds anything useful to the discussion, but I've repaired electronics as a hobby a good part of my life.I've discovered that when it comes to membrane type switches,as on your F11(I have an F22),using a very light touch with them is important to their longevity. When I turn on my machine(or press any of the buttons),I press them only hard enough to make them activate. Some people go at them like they're trying to shove their finger right through the control panel.I can't count how many TV remote controls I had to repair that were damaged by people pushing way too hard on the buttons.Microwave oven controls are easily damaged by stabbing the buttons instead of gently pressing them.Electronics just aren't that robustly made any more and that has to be taken into account when using them. Not saying that that's what caused the OPs issue with his detector, but just something to consider.

They have outstanding service and fast turn around times. Your detector is under warranty and you have nothing to worry about. As stated in an earlier post, go lightly on the touch pad! This is good advice for ANY detector that has the touch pads, not just Fisher products. You have a great detector, especially for the price.
