Well, I've never had to do a factory reset, but its a good option to have if you lose your way.
I like the fact that the F70 retains all the last used settings except ground balance, it makes it a much more of a turn on and go detector.
There is a couple of things about the F70 that's not in the manual, like!
SL mode's ability to boost depth below a Zero threshold, but not above.
And then the modulated /non-modulated audio is also triggered below or above the Zero threshold.
I think the F70 falls into the class of detectors people 'Over Think' I mean if your trying to reach DEEP OLD coins you have the
to run it at HOT SETTINGS!! that equals,
As high of a threshold setting as possible and the detector stable enough to operate.
As high of a sensitivity setting as possible and the detector stable enough to operate.
In the US old coins except Nickels and pennies are SILVER! pennies hold in the high tone range, so you can't really mess up the coin hunting
with the discrimination setting!
Tones are just an aid, there isn't anything magical about them, and certainly not the ability to put nickels into the high tone range, because it throws everything
else that's in the nickel range to high tone, so this is just a like or not like option, not deeper, not better, its sort of like, I like a Silver colored car, someone else likes the same car
but red.
I don't relic hunt, so I just skip a lot of variables already.
So, for coin hunting I just have to determine which of the two types I'm doing for the day!
Fair Grounds Fresh drops, Equals LOW POWER settings,
Minus 4 Threshold,
20 or 30 sensitivity,
speed DE (default),
Discrimination just below Zinc's and Notch in Nickels.
So, deeper older coins I just make adjustments to the above,
If I can't get the threshold to Zero or above then I'll probably use SL speed,
Sensitivity as high as I can get it without the detector falsing,
I'll probably disc out Zinc' and I may notch nickels in for awhile, but if I'm digging to much trash then I'll disc
them out.
I like three tones but that's because that's what I'm use to.
