Fisher F75 coil

I am using a Whites Coinmaster GT for competition hunts. It has a 10" concentric coil and I use it in all metal with target ID and look at the ID number when I hit a target. It pinpoints great due to the concentric coil.
I would like to use my Fisher F75 LTD but the stock coil is a 10" DD and pinpointing is a pain as it pinpoints in 2 places on the coil, in front of the spot and at the spot..
I would like to get a concentric coil and can get an elliptical or a round one for better pinpointing. Im thinking the round one would cover more area on a swing due to being round as opposed to only 6" wide..

Can someone give me a comparison of the 2 coils. Depth is not important only fast pinpointing.
Also what modes would you suggest for the Fisher?

Looks like I may be mistaken there may not be a round concentric coil.

As far as the fisher coils goes. I know they make a 10" elliptical that is concentric.
They make the famous little 6" football coil (elliptical) that is concentric.

I don't think of a narrower longer elliptical coil as not having as much ground coverage,
yes, its narrower but in a single sweep from heel to toe its covering 10" of earth.

If you like a concentric and want one for the F75 then I don't see an issue with the 10" elliptical concentric.

My F75 came with the 5" DD. I use that for club events where speed is an asset.
I also have success with the 9 x 5 DD my go to coil. When pinpointing I use the heal to toe pull back to verify I am on the front hot spot. Works reasonably well

I love that 10" elliptical concentric coil that came on my F70, many got rid of this one immediately in favor of the bigger DD coil which is a bit deeper.
I use both along with the small round Fisher and a Nel Sharpshooter and all have found me great treasure.

That elliptical is actually something special to me, don't use it all the time but it sounds different on the Fishers th an DD's, the response is different with fantastic sounding sharp tones over all targets but it seems to love to find silver and gold and especially jewelry of any kind.
Ask Mike Hillis about finding jewelry with this coil on all Fishers from the F5 on up.
Found this thing on my first target I drug walking through one area in an old park on my way to another area...size of a quarter.
7" deep, a a very solid stable tone that rocked me back on my heels and all very unusual for target behavior in my rough, mineralized soil.

Seems to have some extra ability in separation probably due to that squeezed in shape I assume, I have found some great targets in some really trashy sites with that one.
I will never get rid of mine.

As far as competition hunts this one will work...dead center pinpointing but as a veteran of a few of these hunts I know it is all about speed and accuracy...not depth.
You usually have about 20 minutes to get what you can get and fast pinpointing, recovery and moving on is all what these hunts are about.
Even a few seconds it takes to stash your targets can count against you, I never kneeled down at these things, always just bent over at the waist and I usually strapped a small camera case to one ankle with the top zipped open and tossed them in there as fast as I can.
I was already moving that coil ahead of me before I even stood up and took that first step and I have found hundreds of dollars worth of better prize tokens this way.
I usually like smaller coils for this task, my #1 tool for doing this is a 7" coil Compadre then after most is found for the rest of the time I switch to a larger coil like the 11" DD on my F70 to find any rare stragglers.

I have only been in a couple of competition hunts, and they are not for me. But my highest coin count for clad stabbing in one day was with the older F75Ltd with the 6.5" concentric elliptical coil. I think that little coil is about 2.75" wide by 6.5" long.

I found I could increase the foot print of the little coil by running it angled a bit, the toe was up maybe a inch or so. That added maybe a couple of inches in front of the coil over running it level with the ground. Now you will not get a lot of depth but you have speed and ground coverage of a 8 or 9 inch elliptical coil. I know it will look like you don't know what you are doing but it works.

Now if you have a new F75 with the FA processor I think that would be the way to go for competition hunting. You would need to check and see how fast of a swing speed you can get away with. The FA processor is the fastest but you can swing so fast it will go right over a target, been there and done that. Also you will need to check and see how much sensitivity you need. You will not need to run max but you may need it set about 50. I can't remember how much I used but it only takes a minute or so to check for a number that will hit every time on your target.

There I have been going to 1 competition hunt for about 25 years but last year I hit 3 and this year I hit 4 already and will hit 1 more. Im not bad but some guys double what I get with the whites and some get way less. Im slightly above average,
I got a loaner of the 6c10 elliptical concentric to test at home and the guy wants $65 for it. I does pinpoint right in the center. After a little more practice with it I may use it next week. I also like the idea about the ankle purse, although how do you keep the targets from falling out while you walk? Last week 2 people that I know lost tokens by missing there pouch when putting them in.

We had extras so I used one, just the small pouch you put a small digital camera into.
I zip open the top only, strap in around my ankle and let it rest on the top of my foot.
I get a signal and just bend over at the waist, one swing over a target with the Compadre and I know where it is and the instant I pull up the token or coin it goes into that pouch and I am stepping forward swinging that coil again before I even straighten up.
I haven't lost one coin or token yet.
Might only save a second or two from standing and throwing them in a pocket or pouch but in this game seconds add up and can count.
The right token can get you a great prize so I try to look at it all logically and scientifically and maximize my effort the best I can.

If I remember correctly the NEL Sharpshooter I had was a DD type coil. So that being the case and bigger is better, stay with the 11" DD stock coil or the box coil 5x10DD elliptical. My 11"DD coil pin points right in the middle of the coil. I go by that small round circle and if a target coin is laying flat it goes right to the center. You can also PP in disc my using the toe of the coil.

I read above that you are trying out a 10" concentric (6c10), I would be interesting in know your method of pin pointing really fast with that coil.

I used my stock coil in a hunt earlier this year and found almost every hole I dug was off by 2 "
When I got time to check it I found that there is 2 spots that are the sweet spot. One about 2" above the little circle and on the circle.
Yes I can come at it from the heal and stop on the first spot but when in a hurry it takes extra time to first find a target then back up and come in from the heal.
I tried the 6x10 concentric coil in the year and it pinpoints in the middle pretty good but not as fast as my round Whites GT or most older lite Tesearos that many hunters prefer.

Normally I'm swinging as fast as I can and when I hear anything I go over the area and make an x and look for the cut in the grass. Being off 2" cost time.
I plan on buring some coins this weekend and practicing more.

Now for the most part I am not in a rush when hunting, so when using the mid size coil or larger I use the all metal PP mode and d-tune to get the target center. As long as my coins are somewhat flat with the ground I get a really good PP. If the coin is tilted it will throw the PP off.

Now with the smaller coils I don't use all metal PPing, or xing. I just hit the target and it is pretty much under the coils small foot print, just dig and move on.

I was in a club back in the 70's and we had a couple pretty good size competition hunts and we had guys come in and cheat. Somebody came up behind me and gave a good turn on every knob they could get hold of. That just about did it for me.

I have never heard of something happening like that these days. The worst is people that dig junk and leave it in the hole. Also hunts where the use wheat pennies some people drop them to slow others down, otherwise there pretty honest these days. They also cost a lot more to get sin since the price of silver got to $17. I think I will buy the 6x10 elliptical coil from the guy that lent it to me. Next hunt is in Texas.

Well good luck and remember that running that toe up a little works with any coil. Try it if you are not looking for deep coins, that 10" concentric can reach to the size of 12+inch coil. This could be your secret weapon.

When it gets to dry to dig around here this is the way I hunt for fresh dropped jewelry and coins. I also carry the hand held PPer and if I can pick it up with that I go for it, if the PPer will not hit it I move on.

Now will your PPer hit those wheat pennies, if so you may try the PPer in one hand and detector in the other. I have no idea how deep they plant those wheat pennies, so if you know that you may setup something before you head out.

On the hunts I have participated in my club planted tons of wheat cents, a couple of Indians, several Mexican cents for some reason and a whole lot of silver dimes.
Plus about 144 special tokens which were stamped with numbers, painted red and made from wheat cents.
We went for the tokens first, the silver dimes went a long way to paying off the entry fee and the rest was just busy work...but I do love to save wheat cents for some reason.

Same here I keep all the wheat pennies I find. Not so long ago I happened to notice a odd looking penny in some change I got back from the store. I took a second look and turned it over, it was a brand new wheat penny. That is my little story for the day.

If you know your hunting shallow at these hunts its possible that if you raise the 11" DD up (elevated about the target in the air) and hover while you pinpoint then lower the coil straight down
that you'll get a better center on the pinpoint. You should only need to elevate it maybe two to three inches.
