I felt like I needed a little edge, so I rubbed on my Genie a little extra this morning. The weather didn't look promising, it was calling for rain on and off all day long. I got to my new location about daybreak making it a little hard to see. I eased down the grassy area between the curb and sidewalk and wasn't finding anything but memorial pennies. Finally I moved up to an area of the yard between the old driveway and what looked like the remains of an old cedar tree stump. I got a sweet soft high tone that had silver written all over it. I dug down and to my surprise I found a 1914 Barber Dime. The house was built around '52, so you just never know what might pop up out of the ground. I did manage to find a few wheat pennies to help date the area ( 1942, 1955, 1936, 19??, 1945, 1940, 1944 ). It started spitting rain, but not hard enough to run me to the car. I decided to make a run down the side of the driveway. I got strong signal that was a mix of a high tone and zinc tone. I dug down and popped a screw cap. I rescanned the hole and got a sweet clean high tone and unearth a 1964 Rosie. I dug a few more coins, but the rain was starting to come down so I decided to call it a day with just little over an hour of detecting for the day and save the rest of the silver and gold for another day. I was using 4H tones, 7 on the discrimination, boost mode and had the sensitivity set at 50. Smooth running. There is a lot of area to cover, I'm going to need to get Taylor to come help me empty this site of silver and gold. We got around 9 or10 pieces of silver at the last site we hunter together. I haven't even gone near the clothes lines yet. That is one of my favorite places to detect.
