Fisher metal detector names...

I'm curious why many of the fisher detectors are just names f-# ???
Is there a reason or methodology to it ??

Nope.

And there's a reason why there's no reason or methodology behind it. Well, not much anyhow. Just a little bit. Been that way for the 30 years I've been in this industry.

<broad grin>

Anyone care to guess what that reason is?

<broad grin again>

The F75 came out in 2006 and the number represented the 75th anniversary of Gerhard Fisher's first metal detector in 1931.

Beyond that, the lower the number on the F series detector, the lower the price point with the F2 being the lowest priced and the F75 being the highest.

Alright how about this:
F-2, 4, 5, 70 & 75
Marcomo already picked the easy 75th anni model so lets let that go.
F1, & 3 were eliminated to avoid association with unlucky 13.
Hence models 2, 4 & 5 are sequential releases. Model F70 is proto 75 or 75 lite.
We are all dying to see F80 this year as it is the 80th anniversary!
How about it Dave? :clapping::super::clap:

It started with the 1260 ??????????? released 12/ 1960 LOL..

I see there were 555D etc much earlier.. SO I have no idea ..

I was just thinking that around then The 1260 series started.. and semed to go 1265 1266 1266X.. etc etc.. then Cz6 6a Then the 5 later on with a speaker built in., 7, 7a, 7Pro, CZ3 , 3D ( I think) Cz70 lol...

I will be interested to learn why ??

F5 - $500 detector
F4 - $400 detector
F2 - $200 detector

Name refers to price range?
